Being a first time parent is always challenging for both husband and wife. Not only you both sleep, eat and breath parenting advice books and completely neglecting your own eat and sleep, you are constantly worried about the new life, adorably resting the little head before closing the eyes to take another nap of the day.
Then you start worrying too much. Here is the list of 25 most googled baby questions which usually people ask and are answered:
1.When will my baby start kicking?
Most first time moms feel the first kick between 18 and 26 weeks.
2.When will my baby descend?
From around 37 weeks, the baby will drop or descend in your pelvis or 2 to 4 weeks before your delivery.
3. Is my baby a boy or a girl?
People have suggested all sorts of ways to predict the sex of their baby which includes monitoring pregnancy symptoms and methods to conceive a boy or a girl as well but the only way to find out is an Ultrasound which is done in the second trimester. This is however, illegal in some countries like India.
4. Is my baby breech?
A breech baby is the one that sleeps with their buttocks and / or feet closest to the birth canal rather than head down which can lead to a difficult birth for both you and your baby. If the feet are up by ears, you may feel the kicks around your ribs and if the baby is sitting in a cross legged position, the kicks will be lower down and below belly button.
5. When will my baby be born?
We cannot tell you exactly when but the most pregnancies last about 9 months or around 40 weeks. The most accurate marker still is the ultrasound.
6. Is my baby sleeping too much?
Once the baby arrives, every fear gets heightened about taking care of the tiny human being and this is the top most question people usually ask, answer to which is, Probably Not. Newborns need 18 to 20 hours of sleep.
7. When will my baby sleep through the night?
Even when the baby sleeps through the night, the long stretch will be at random hours like from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. But they will be sleeping through by about 6 months old.
8. Is my baby getting enough breast milk?
Ideally, you should feed for 10 to 15 minutes per breast every 2 to 3 hours or as per the baby needs till 6 months.
9. When can my baby drink cow’s milk?
When the baby gets 1-year-old.
10. At what age will my baby recognise me?
Anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months.
11. When will my baby start laughing?
It will develop slowly from giggle to full laugh from 4 to 5 months.
12. At what age will my baby talk?
At around 3 months is ideal time to start communication. At 6 months your baby will start speaking short words and by 9 months you can shout to get your attention and understand the basic words.
13. Is my baby constipated?
It is never easy to tell because even while passing a soft tool the baby may cry, grunt or kick legs. So before deciding, pay close attention to the consistency and frequency of their bowels.
14. When will my baby roll over?
Your baby will start rolling and rocking from back to side and vice versa from around 4 months.
15. When will my baby sit up?
For a short period of time, your baby will start sitting up unsupported from around 6 months but because all kids are not same so for few of them, this time period can extend up to 5 to 9 months.
16. When will my baby start crawling?
Because every child is different, therefore, ideally a baby starts crawling from about 6 months.
17. When will my baby walk?
First the baby will learn to stand after 12 months before learning to pull up and cruising around the house, holding things for support and by about 14 months the baby will stand to hold your hands to walk few steps at a time. Ideally the baby will be able to walk, jump and climb from around 30 months.
18. Is my baby teething?
Ideally the baby starts teething between 3 to 12 months during which a baby will be in pain because the tooth cuts through their tiny little gums.
19. When can my baby start solids?
Giving solids to babies early can be dangerous for their fragile bodies which increase their chances of obesity and can also lead to heart disease and diabetes in the long run and also risking choking, malnutrition and infection in the present. So, the World Health Organization recommends going for breastfeeding for 6 months without any other liquids or foods. For solid foods wait for 17 weeks.
20. How can I play with my baby?
Engage your baby’s senses first and by the end of first 3 months your baby will start reaching out and try to grab things and will get fascinated by smells, sounds and patterns.
21. How much caffeine can I drink while breast feeding?
When caffeine enters the bloodstream, a small amount ends up in your breast milk and since the new born cannot easily break down and get rid of caffeine, it may accumulate in his system which the baby begins to process at about 3 months. It is better to avoid when you are breast feeding though.
22. Is my child overweight?

Take the pacifier away sooner than later to break the binky habit is the best strategy which is suggested by doctors.
25. Why my child does not listen?
Ensure that you listen to your child before you expect your child to listen to you. Careful listening shows that you respect the feelings of your kid and give them the space to explore the problems and find their own solutions.
