The first book that I am going to include in my list is called, ” After Birth” that touches upon a very sad yet very important situation of “post-partum’ depression. This is the story of Ari, a young Woman suffers from the negative effects of Post-partum depression. This story tells us the struggle that Ari goes through while dealing with depression and how she tries to strike a balance between being a good wife, a good mother and fulfilling her academic passions.

Lorca is a teenage daughter, who has spent her entire life trying to win over her mother’s heart and earn her love. Lorca’s mother is a distracted mother, who works as a chef. Lorca’s mom is all set to send her daughter, off to boarding school, away from herself. Desperate to prove her love for her mother, Lorca finally, resolves to learn to cook and prepare her mother’s ideal meal. In the process of learning to cook, chop, bake and present food, Lorca learns how food sustains not just our system, but our hopes as well.

Karmic kids is a book which will surely make you all feel the real essence of motherhood and make you laugh, love, and shed some tears as well. The humour in this book is its main element and the best of all which is covered in the form of day to day routine along with some practical parental advice in a non-preachy way.

Mrs. Funny Bones by Twinkle Khanna

It’s a humorous and a witty take on how Twinkle Khanna leads a normal life but her celebrity status always prodding along. There are bits and parts where she talks about her husband, mother-in-law and kids and you get a peek into a celeb’s lifestyle and struggles. She is an eloquent writer and her writings are a mix of sarcasm and witty humour. Mrs. Funny Bones is one of the most hilarious and of the original works that keep you engaged to the core.

How To Be A Little Sod By Simon Brett

This book is not from the point of view of a parent but is from the eyes of a little baby. The baby counter attacks every move that his parents make to pacify him in the first year of his birth. While there are many other books on motherhood which makes motherhood sound overwhelming, this one is a satirical take on the same and makes for a fun read.

So go on reminisce the beauty of motherhood! Happy Mothers Day to you for moms should be celebrated all the time.

THE DEEP END OF THE OCEAN imagines every mother’s worst nightmare—the disappearance of a child. Both highly suspenseful and deeply moving, this novel explores a family’s struggle to endure, even against extraordinary odds.
