Come said the wind to
the leaves one day,
Come o’re the meadows
and we will play.
Put on your dresses
scarlet and gold,
For summer is gone
and the days grow cold.
– A Children’s Song of the 1880’s
Autumn could not have been described better. I personally like autumn because the weather becomes pleasant and the beautiful fall colours in the leaves create a canvas of natural beauty like no other. We all are aware of the amazing winter set of a collection which is available for men and women but I saw a gap in trend sharing for kid’s collection which is where I started applying my skills and experience as a fashion designer and started sharing trends for kids every season. When it comes to dressing a girl child it is all about pretty retro styled dresses but we see a lot of upcoming trendy wear for boys too. Here are some of my favourite Autumn Winter 2017 trends for kids
Retro makes a huge comeback this season in kids garments. This is the biggest trend that is seen across brands and designers.
Colours :
2017 Trends for Kids in Colour
As the weather is all pleasant, soft tints of pink are a must when it comes to kids because it makes them look cute. Another colour which is in trend this fall is the shade of eggplant which leaves a bold look. Minimals are always in the trend which includes black and white and their shades. Brown and its shades are making a comeback this fall.
Silhouettes :

Suspenders :
Detachable Suspenders with classic clothing items for kids. Warm trousers and skirts with detachable suspenders increase the classic, chic factor of these clothing items manifolds. When it comes to skirts, the front pleated variants look extremely stylish for little girls. Use detachable suspenders with easy on pants or denim for boys.Make them wear a full-sleeved shirt to keep them warm. You can also add a front open coat to make the entire outfit look more stylish. Increase the cool factor for both boys and girls by coupling up these outfits with caps.
Loose baggy sweatshirts :
Sweatshirts are amazing because they are warm as well as it can make any person look cool in it. They are long sleeved loose full sleeves t-shirts.
Knitted Cardigans :
The Cardigan gives the outfit a complete look. Cardigans can be paired up with anything. It gives an aesthetic touch as well as they are warm as they are knit.
Knit Dungarees :
Knit Dungarees can make an outfit look cute as well it can cover up your child completely. Knit Dungarees are warm, you can pair it up with full sleeves shirt or t-shirts so as to complete the look.
Detailing :

Bows As appliqués:
Classic bows add interest on any kind of outfit. You can buy shirts or short dresses with knotted bows on the collar for your little girls, somewhat like this one. Knee length skirts with Grosgrain bow appliques around the waistband, usually on one side look pretty. Below the skirt, make your kids wear warm stockings or leggings in pleasing colours to protect from cold.
Ruffles :
Ruffles can make any outfit look classy. The wavy pleated Ruffles can add a touch of prettiness to the outfit.
Polka Dots :
Retro themes always make a comeback when fall arrives. Polka dots can make any outfit look cute.
Big Checks :
Checks is a style which will never go out of trend. This season big checks on shirts and bottoms are huge in trend. Checks shirt, pants, t-shirts can make any outfit look cool when paired up with any basic thing.
Quilted Jackets :
Quilted jackets serve the dual purpose of looking extremely chic along with being super warm. Choose the ones with hoods to protect the head from the cold weather. There are versions with detachable pompoms on the hood. For girls, you can keep the pom poms attached while for boys, you can do away with them. Hoods with furs look really eye catchy on pretty little humans.
So, moms, this is the forecast for the season of Autumn-Winter 2017/18. Hope all of you can take tips from it and dress your kids fashionably. Trends for you moms coming on the blog soon.
