December has started and this year has shown promise of a cold winter.  If you are in any other part of the world where winter means snow, below zero degrees temperatures or really cold winds, then you need to make sure that your kids are properly garbed in their winter wear.  But that doesn’t mean we have to make them look overdressed. We here at MOAB believe in doing things fashionably as we believe;

A child’s sense of self comes shining through in his or her style and what he or she chooses to wear. It is one of the most basic and instinctual ways that children show the world who they are. Don’t you feel more confident if you’re well dressed to an interview? Similarly, dressing fashionably instills them with confidence.

Little fashionistas like @gavinraygoza,@babyellestyle, @ministylehacker are some Instagram accounts of kids who are setting trends and have a huge following of kids and moms who follow their styling religiously. My kids are still unaware of these fashionistas and I would like to keep it like that for as long as possible, however, I do tend to seek a glance once or twice at these fashionistas for inspiration.

So here are the top trends of 2016 kid’s winter fashion which you can use to dress your kids fashionably in their winter wear;

Colours

This season colors in vogue for girls are Raspberry burst, Fuschia, Purples, Rich Garnet and Frozen Peach whereas colors for boys are dominated with Majestic Purples, Rust, Garnets, Blue-infused Green and a more neutral palette with colors like Terracotta.

Silhouettes

Internationally the trend this year is all about comfortable silhouettes, loose fits and lots of fabric.

Girl’s world is full of silhouettes like pleated skirts, loose shirt dresses, long jackets and funky capes.

Detailing

Detailing like frills and sequins are seen ruling the season with different interpretations. They might occur in a collar or a neckline or you might find a whole frilly net bottom. Another trend which stands out is clashing prints. Instead of accessories, it will be about mixing patterns as wildly as you can.

Denim rule the season irrespective of the gender. The boy’s trend brings a mix of current trends, such as patches, fake fur and bomber jackets, besides several key pieces such as jeans and synthetic leather coats.

Winter wear woes : Get The Look

The overall look this season will be sophisticated but not too upright and elegant but not too sombre. In India, we will also see a lot of bright festive colors and fabrics owing to the festivity that engulfs the nation during the season.

Some of my friends plan their kids wardrobes season wise. For me, fashion is more about the kid‘s comfort and their personal style. Being from the garment industry I am particular about the fit, fabric, and stitching of the garment. I make sure when I shop I assemble a complete look and create a balanced mix of eclectic and sober clothing. For my 10-year-old, the look is mostly classy and understated, which suits his shy personality. For my younger one, who is a complete social hobnob, I pick more experimental silhouettes,  brighter prints, and colors. So while these are the ongoing trends, mommies make sure when you pick the clothing your kid’s personality is reflected in them.
