Crafting is always fun and even more fun when we make something out of nothing. Not nothing no, no, otherwise we would all have been God, but something that we consider junk. The easiest way to do that is to use the paper we find lying around our homes and do some wonderful paper craft.
Probably the most important invention of the Egyptians after the clock is paper, for sure for us crafters. Imagine the art and craft scene without paper, certainly it wouldn’t be as colourful, as varied, as interesting as it is now
Papers or newspaper make the correct ingredients for lovely paper craft ideas. With good old paper we can let our imagination run wild. In paper craft the prime ingredient is paper and we work on it to create interesting three-dimensional objects. Paper can be moulded, cut, glued, coiled, rolled and folded to make various projects. We all must have come across paper craft at a very tender age. Do you remember the time when during monsoons an elder brother or father taught us how to make a paper boat? So that was origami from Japan and then we have some more like kirigami, quilling, collage making, paper sculpting, paper mache, and decoupage and so on in vogue now. You can learn all these DIY Crafts here.
Paper craft idea scene has almost been revolutionised in recent times and there is a lot of intricate work being produced too but then the most fun are the ones which are done in a jiffy. Like this paper quilling card.
For this we need quilling strips of your choice, card paper, some embellishments like small pearls and glue and a quilling needle.
We begin the quilling card with the wings of the butterfly. The outer skeleton will be made first and then we fill the gaps with the strips, use a quilling comb. Ensure to secure the ends with the glue always otherwise they will come out. Quill a dark colour strip to make the body of the butterfly and the antennas too. Glue them to the card base.
Make some simple quilling flowers and leaves embellishing them with pearls. Make flowers using 5 mm and 10 mm quilling strips. Take any colour of quilling strips of 5 mm, Make a loose coil and shape it as petals. Place them together and glue them in the centre. Make 12 – 15 flowers of bright colours and arrange them at the corner of the card to create a pattern.
Here it is and isn’t this just gorgeous, something different to give to a special one. And the joy of creating is immense, trust me!

This craft shows that art is very much part of our everyday life, and not something preserved or stored in studios and museums.
I completely agree : these items are far better gifts than ready-made stuff. These convey the emotion and love of the person.

Art and creativity surrounds us in some way or the other always.
