Happiness Is Being Yourself
Five impossible things women are expected to do in bed to wake up looking angelic;
Wipe our make-up, but oh wait, if we did wipe our make-up how are we going to wake up looking pretty?
Brush our teeth: No matter when we brush our teeth in the night when we wake up, our breath is always going to stink in the morning. It’s much easier to head to the bathroom early and maybe stick back into the bed before your partner wakes up. No pressure ;)!!
Moisturize all over and wake up smelling like a garden, I mean a man who is stupid enough to believe your body odor smells like that must be dumped right away or you are setting yourself up for disappointment.
Wear your hair down and wake up with beautiful flowing fresh-from-the-salon hair. So basically sleep straight, so not toss and turn, forget any antics in bed because it is just impossible to not tangle it while sleeping if you do move.
Meditate: Really? After a super hectic day and the one when your body is already dead from the pain from your periods all you can think of is to hit the bed and doze off, you are expected to calm your mind and meditate.
We are human beings and not super human. We have our bad days and who really cares while sleeping? Let’s just be women and trust me if your man loves you, he will pass you a hot water bag and maybe massage your back and feet and you will not care about you looking pretty the moment you wake up and that guy my lady is a keeper :)!!
Just like me the new Sofybodyfit overnight sanitary napkin shuns norms too! Unlike other napkins which tend to slim down at the back, this one has a wider hip guard and is really long. I don’t know why someone never thought of this. This makes life so convenient, especially in the night when you don’t have to keep tugging all night to ensure that there is no leakage from the back. It’s available in 2 sizes XXL – 350mm & XXXL – 420 mm to give you a choice like no other napkin. Plus, I like the whole shape maintenance concept, which basically keeps the pad flexible, so no matter how ugly you sleep, it adjusts to you :). How cool is that?
So let’s celebrate being yourself!! Let’s celebrate us :)!!

Hello Prerna. I like how you related a scene from Sex and the City to your post. Truthfully, I think that was only because they were not married and had not lived together long enough. All married couples know this. Vanity evaporates after two or three years.
As for being a mom, yes, moms naturally have a lot of things to do and in a traditional setup where man is the provider, the husband is usually focused on one thing – work and at home, perhaps pitch in a little here and there.

That’s such a lovely perspective to a man’s world. Thank you Robert, I am glad men like you are still around :).

I like this post a LOT
Movies and TV serials present such impossible things ….
the sleeping with jewellery on is the worst part! I cant sleep with even studs!
Prerna Sinha says
Thanks dear. Sleeping with jewellery takes it to a different level altogether.

I laughed at this post! haha. I remember my husband. We’ve been together for 7 years so all that “trying to be cute” are gone. I showed him the real me and he showed me all his flaws too. We learned to accept that good mornings (I mean the great hair, no bad breath mornings) only happen in movies. lol. But when we have periods, it’s a different story, I am very careful not to have stains after wake or he’s gonna freak out when he sees blood! haha.
Prerna Sinha says
Yes, we don’t want that happening do we :)?

Real men know real women don’t wake up like that. I know I have raised my boys to have no expectation that their future wives may look glam right after waking up as they have seem me first thing n the morning looking dreadful many times. Failed sanitary products at night are the pits. no one wants to be washing sheet every day for a week. glad you found one that works for you.
Prerna Sinha says
Glad you are doing such a good job with your boys :).

Women are expected to perfect all the time. A sad reality that has been going on for generations. However, if a man truly loves you, his idea of perfection is just you and the way you are.
Prerna Sinha says
Tamshuk, while I may have generalised men, it is very refreshing to hear such a balanced male perspective on this post :). I hope more and more men think like you.

Reality is that no one wakes up angelic. And for me, it’s no big deal. What’s important is that I was able to take a good nap.

You have a very positive and lovely outlook in life. I believe in all things you said. I firmly believe in loving yourself fully first before loving anyone else. š

I used to wake up ahead of my husband, rush to the bathroom to wash my face and gargle and then go back bed! Oh but that was during the first few months of marriage. Later on I noticed he doesn’t mind that I look ugly in the morning š True love I guess.

I agree with you, that reality is very different from the movies. But the reality is, women have a noble job for the family. I salute you all ladies, even if your breath stink in the morning.. we all do.. a toothbrush will solve the problem!

I feel so blessed that my boyfriend LOVES all things related to my sleeping. He’s a weirdo but so am I. I laugh at your post. There are too many unrealistic expectations around movies/series – and that’s why I’m doing a serie about it on the blog. I invite you to go check it out, I think you will like it! xx
Jean Dalida says
I couldn’t agree more. Movies/Series made our lives a lot more challenging. Giving us so many ideas about how to look good and a lot more. But doing so, would definitely live you devastated. Coz at the end of the day you’ll face REALITY!

This is so trueee!!! Standards set my movies for women are too high now. I like how you wrote this. It’s catchy and off topic, I love your header <3
