The Secret Of Baby Skin Care Products That Baby Brands Are Not Talking About!

When I first became a parent 16 years ago, I thought to myself, only the best for my baby. I was super careful about the food he ate, sanitising every toy he played with and also very particular about the products I used for his skin. Yes, I was that over involved first-time-mom. And while I was doing my best, I did not realise that some baby brands may use products that are harmful like  Phenoxyethanol for the babies. How was I supposed to know that? I assumed baby brands would be safest.

So What Is Phenoxyethanol? The Secret Of Baby Skin Care Products

This is used as a preservative in cosmetic and baby products but can cause serious harm if absorbed by the skin. Imagine my plight! We have all heard of how paraben and sulphates are not good for us or our babies but not so much about Phenoxyethanol. Which is why today, I am going to share more about it.

Mom and baby

When I was a new mom

If you google, there will be mixed reviews. In some sites it is also described as a safe ingredient. There have been ongoing debates, questioning its safety. It is toxic and has negative effects on the brain & nervous system.
Phenoxyethanol has the potential of destroying the human reproductive system. Would you want to risk your baby with such a nasty? It can irritate their eyes, skin, and even the respiratory tract.

Expecting mothers may have danger from the ingredient as well because of the above-mentioned side effects. I am so glad moms today are paying so much attention to what they pick up for their kids. Remember to always read the label and look out for all these nasties; Parabens, SLS, SLES, Alcohol,Dyes, EDTA etc.

With so much information, it can get very confusing Here are some tips to help you choose a safe baby product;

  1. Ask Your Doctor:

Your Pediatricians are in touch and aware of all baby products in the market and will only recommend the safe ones for your baby. So use their expertise and advise.

  2. Look In The Market for Good Baby Brand

There are many brands in the market for baby products. Do your research for mild baby soaps and lotions for your baby.

  3. Look For Baby Product Reviews On Reputed Blogs

There are many bloggers and blogs who do product reviews of many baby skin care ranges. Identify and follow the trusted ones for their recommendations.

  4. Take recommendations from your friends:

I always take second opinions from my friends when it comes to my kids and this has always helped me as someone or the other has tried a product and has a review to share. This is not unsolicited advise or even someone trying to sell me something. I trust my friend’s opinions.

  5. Check For Skin Reactions

When you pick a product even after careful research, you still need to keep an eye for any reactions to your baby’s skin.

Hope these help you in choosing safe and Phenoxyethanol free baby care for your infant and you do not have to learn the hard way.

Happy Parenting :)!
