Not only #Nirbhaya but every woman,all of us are under the threat of being raped,all the time.We need to think plenty of times ,how to dress before stepping out of the house,what if we are looking too good and might attract unnecessary attention.Or maybe our clothes are to easy to take off!We have to remember not to read messages/take calls while travelling on foot,even if they are urgent and are from your family or your kids.We should take all lewd remarks in our stride,ignore and walk away.After all,reacting to those will only incite and excite the men.
Sadly,much that we might hate these pointers from the rapists,they will always be embedded in the subconscious memory and have tarred our existence forever.
The documentary puts all Indian men under a scanner.Those educated  lawyers don’t deserve to be in their profession,their mentality is worse than the rapists.Is that so ,do all Indian men think of us like this ‘precious flower’ which needs to be only kept in a temple??If it was so,then no ‘Indian daughter’,would have been able to meet her ambitions.I have been blessed to have a father who has relentlessly supported me,a husband who has never stopped me from believing in my convictions,and a brother who has been a strong and silent supporter.They like any Indian family have been my backbone.This is where my objection to the documentary arises,you cannot generalise men based on a few psychopaths.
Will banning the documentary on the Nirbhaya’s rapist make any difference?Or will showing it?I do not know,because a documentary cannot change the root of the problem,cannot change a mindset completely.
We have to catch them young,when we are bringing our kids up.Right from the point when they see their mothers slogging in the kitchen whereas their dads are sitting in front of their television sets on the pretext of taking a break from work.When they are told that you have to work hard as you are going to be the main bread earner of your household ,your sister can be married off  if she does not do well.When your elder brother tells you not to wear certain clothes as he knows how guys think.When the woman is asked to sacrifice her career to take care of kids.The examples are endless,when we talk about ‘equality’ in gender,it’s not to promote a notion.The inequality exists and till it exists in our families and the way we bring up our kids,this will never cease to exist;

She flies high,graceful and strong,

Never forgets the nest to which she belongs.
Her wings so spread,clear skies ahead.
No star too far,the moon and sun in her power.

“She is too bold,she is a snob.
Let’s cut her wings”,said the mob.
They took her and tied her and did things too shameful,
She pushed and pleaded and begged for mercy.
They pushed and laughed and unloaded all their wrath.

She flew one day,her wings were strong.
She was an eagle,now her flight is gone.

On a lighter note read this article ,found it so apt !
