I have to agree the title does catch attention! We had travelled to HongKong last summers with kids and this post has been subject to my immense laziness. Finally, penning it down. This is how my trip was; After spending a week in Hongkong and observing people here, I have figured out their passions and their interests; Clearly cars, fashion, gold, pearl, pottery, theme parks and casinos(whenever they can head to Macau). It’s a really pretty set up with an island city surrounded by the 9 peaks and surrounded by sea, flyovers, excellent public transport and infrastructure. You can choose to travel by cab(which are not that expensive), tubes or buses. It’s a city with some history to see but loads of fun stuff to do with kids:-
HEAD TO DISNEYLAND
Head straight to Disneyland, needless to say most popular and most wonderful land with kids. Specially for kids aged between 3-8 it’s a treat. Beyond that age though there are just a few rides and attractions for them. The gates open at 10 am and don’t shut well beyond 8 pm. Needless to say like a true Indian, we maximised our time there. It’s a different world out there, with it being divided into Fantasyland, toy land, adventure land, Mainland USA and many such more. For my three year old it was the most wondrous journey but my eight year was not impressed. He found it to be kiddish.

He freaked out more the previous day in ‘Ocean World’.I guess kids until the age of 6 years might be enamoured by Disneyland.

OCEANWORLD FOR THOSE WITH ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT

Oceanworld is an adventure and sea life themed park, which has animal exhibits, thrilling rides and shows.Their most popular show is the dolphin show. The park has many sections like, Polar adventure, Thrill Mountain, Old Hongkong, Rain forest, Aqua city etc. My favourite part was their cable car ride. I have never done a cable car ride which goes up so high between the mountains and over the oceans at such high speed. And you can see from the side and bottom of the cable car and it’s exhilarating and scary.

GO PEAK HIGH IN THE HISTORICAL TRAM

Victoria Peak is nice to visit and the city view from there is spectacular. But it should be a clear day or else you will end up seeing the clouds like us. That too had its own beauty. There is also Madame Tussaud’s here, but we have been to the one in London and Singapore so we decided to skip that. There are lot’s of small cafe’s here and shops to buy curios.

Stroll around the Peak Circle Walk for more scenic shots which is about 40 minutes. While you can take a cab all the way to the peak, the more touristy way is to go via the historic tram which was built as early as 1926 by the British and today, more than 4 million people ride the Peak Tram annually. This post bring back memories of my trip. We had gone to HK and Macau two years ago and more than the kids, I enjoyed all the rides (esp roller-coasters) in Disney and Ocean Park.

Happens to me as well. ..I love all these rides…not the scary ones though .I guess we have to do less of history and more of theme parks when we are with kids.
