Why Serviced Apartments Work Better Than Hotel Rooms For Family Trips

-Serviced Apartments Vs Hotel Rooms For Family Trips cover

We are just back from a high energy family holiday and I have so much to share about our family trips, our sightseeing, and our experiences but one huge thing that we realised on this holiday was that we love luxury, comfort and we love to take things our way when on a holiday. As a family, we don’t have a fixed itinerary and most of our day’s plan is made the previous night. We are a mixed family of hardcore Vegetarian Tam brahms( My hubby and my elder one) and keeping the balance the mild non-vegetarians my little one and me (we hold the flag from north of India), so food is a huge thing when we travel and mostly we don’t get ‘Indian’ vegetarian food.  I tend to get a little deviated coming back, with so many different needs we realised an apartment just fitted in perfectly to all our needs. We fell in love

Husband likes to pack light and kids mess their clothes a bit too much! So which basically means that having a washer dryer just helps us recycle our clothes. It doesn’t take too much time either, you can launder once in 2-3 days and it actually means you can pack way lighter than what you would normally. Now if we were in a hotel room, we would probably be sweating at the thought of laundry charges that we would run into had we given as many clothes to launder by the hotel staff.

Everyone gets food to their wishes without having to worry about high priced hotel menus!!

As I mentioned earlier we are a diverse family and while at home I have finally managed to concoct a menu that can compensate for everyone’s palette when we travel it’s an issue. The vegetarians want their Indian veg food and the North of India banner holders want to experiment. So when in an apartment, we can shop from the closest 7/11 or any grocery store and improvise on frozen meals or if we feel more enthusiastic can cook a fresh meal. The best part of it all is that it doesn’t make a dent in your pocket as ordering separate meals from in-room dining.

We love the space and it’s perfect to unwind. Apartments are usually 2bedroooms and 3 bedrooms or more depending on your need and a hotel room would be a single room, so spending time in one room can really get to you after a time, whereas in an apartment if you get bored of your room, head to the living room or the balcony. I just like to move around and enjoy the space. The scenery doesn’t get boring.

It’s sometimes even bigger than our home. Sometimes the apartments that we have stayed in have been bigger than our real home and that feels like a luxury. I almost fantasise living in such a space on a regular basis where someone else takes care of your dishes, cleaning …love the idea!

The kids get a separate room which buys us privacy and peace. This is one huge reason why I also love the apartment idea. My kids don’t only sleep in the same hotel room when we travel but also want to sleep on the same bed as us. As they are growing it’s getting more impossible. The best part of the apartment, they get another room, I get my space and at nighttime finally, I get my peace and quiet.

I hate mess! but when travelling and staying in a room, it tends to get messy with so many pieces of luggage and everyone using it, but when in an apartment this mess just moves out of my room as I like my room clean. The kids also love it as they don’t have mom breathing on their shoulders all telling them to clean up all the time.

We can’t afford suites all the time! You might argue that space can definitely be managed if we hire a suite or two rooms in a hotel, but then the pricing hits the rooftop whereas the same size apartments can be hired at the price of a hotel room.

You won’t get the benefits like a swimming pool, gym, restaurants etc. Wrong, our apartment in Dubai was serviced by the Taj hotels and we could use all the amenities of the hotel. Our apartment in Singapore had a swimming pool, gym and other amenities. I guess you just have to do your searches well.

And after all of this, I don’t have to do dishes!! Yeaa!!

So yes initially we were always for hotel rooms till we discovered the benefits of an apartment while on family trips and now we try and book myself in a serviced apartment whenever we are travelling.

Just what I thought about service apartments. I find them better because I love the kitchenette part. I have stayed in hotel apartments in Dubai, Oslo, Riyadh and Sweden and they had all the amenities. They are also much more comfortable than hotels. One can just make a small house in there.
