5 Parenting Lessons We Can Learn From Celebrity Parents

Being a celebrity may fill your life with glamour and things may come easy to you but when it comes to parenting you don’t have an easy way out. Your child will not make your life easy just because you are a celebrity parent. While we hardly ever endorse celebrity parents on the blog as we like to share more common stories that belong to you and me, this time we were impressed by some celebrities who we have observed leave no stones unturned in bringing up their children. Sushmita Sen set a new standard by adopting kids as a single mom in times when it was unheard of, Kate believes in  being a hands-on mom for Prince George and accompanies him even on his play dates. Akshay Kumar is a disciplinarian who wants his kids to learn humility before anything else. Here is what we can take as a lesson from them:

To Stand up for yourself

For us she takes single parenting to a whole new level. If you have ever heard Sushmita Sen deliver a speech there is no way you won’t be spellbound. Not only does she speak well, she also makes a lot of sense. She is a woman who has achieved a lot at a very young age and has been the one to always break norms. Being an unmarried mother of two adopted daughters in India was unthinkable before she went ahead and defied everything and has always stood strong. This is such a rare quality that we need to pass on to our younger ones.

Family comes first

Madhuri Dixit is the celeb mother from whom you can learn how to pay attention to your children even if you are busy with your work. She may be busy with her schedule but is always very cautious when it comes to her boys. For her, her family is her priority. She works and manages her time around them. It’s a notion that career-oriented women often neglect their families. She believes that when kids see their mothers working hard, they take up responsibilities at home and are far more well-turned out than other children.

Creating Self-esteem

Prince William and Kate believe that their children will be able to do good in the future only if they incorporate the self-esteem in them from the beginning. You might have noticed that the Duke of Cambridge often kneels down while talking to his son. When the Duke of Cambridge crouches down to Prince George’s level, he’s able to look into the toddler’s eyes. Experts consider this to be an “active listening” technique and it can help children feel like what they’re saying really matters to their parents. This will foster self-esteem in powerful ways and encourage his children to communicate even more.

Humbleness and discipline

You can take a lesson or two from Akshay Kumar and Twinkle when it comes to humility. They are the ones who believe that humbleness is an attribute which should be incorporated into a child right from his/her childhood.

“No one gets out of their pram in our house. Tina and I are both very grounded people, there are no starry, starry moments allowed in our home. We both make sure that no matter what we have or what we can provide for our children, that nothing and no-one is taken for granted.”

Akshay started his career as a chef and a waiter in Bangkok before he became an actor. It is perhaps this struggle that he remembers and wants his kids to learn about hard work and discipline. He wants his kids to be self-reliant. He is a self disciplinarian and every day without fail he practices his martial arts and this is a quality that has rubbed on his son Aarav too, who is now a black belt holder.

There are many things to learn from celebrity parents as they are the ones who incorporate the attributions by their love & strictness into the child right from the childhood.
