Every Mom Needs This To Feel Like A Queen – Siemens Dishwasher Review

Siemens Dishwasher Honest Review

A wise man once said, behind every cranky mom is a ton load of utensils that have to be washed.

In India, we are lucky to have house help attend to us every day but in most countries, they just visit once a week or twice a week at the maximum. Even in this part of the world when your help is absconding or when you are expecting guests and the workload is more, moms need a savior. When you do have to get down to cleaning the house, cooking or even cleaning utensils, along with hungry, wailing kids, all you get is a moody woman with mood swings as bad as when you are PMSing.

Plus being a mom you are also always concerned about your kid’s health and I am the kind who would sterilise each and every toy when my kids were infants and toddlers. An American health survey states that at any time when you hold wet dishes you have the chance they’ll get recontaminated because a moist, warm environment provides good conditions for bacterial growth. Now imagine me hovering over my help making sure the dishes are more clean, devoid of any smell and dry. That’s been me for some time and I knew it’s not something I can panic over all my life.

My Story:

Like God heard me, one fine day, I was asked if I would be interested in reviewing Siemens dishwasher. My best way to figure out if this was my escape from the woes of a hyperventilating mom or not.

I have now been using the dishwasher for almost a month and I think it’s a good time that I can discuss it with you. There are numerous reviews that you might find online for the Siemens dishwasher so why should you read this one?

No particular reason, but let me give you a hint, mine comes with a lot of masala and the curry, literally.

Moving on we had a few hiccups like installing a dishwasher required a 15 Amp plug point (or different based on your machine), water inlet valve and a sink hole for the water outlet pipe (same as your washing machine). Now that would mean shifting my current washing machine and making space for the Siemens dishwasher and shifting that was no joke. Well, it weighed a good 70-80 kgs.

Then we needed to check if the kitchen met the plumbing requirements.Water outlet pipe, you can use the same outlet currently being  used for your wash basin pipe or your washing machine.

Meanwhile, we were shifting homes and it was my savior as, during my shifting, when we(my help or me) had no energies to wash utensils, this was our knight who came in a white shining armour.

Then came the house warming parties all lined up back to back in the new home and guess how we survived late night cleaning. That was my story but we promised you a review, so here it is;

The Masala

What you need to run a dishwasher:

1. Detergent or powerball: I felt personally on usage that powerball was more effective than the detergent

2. Rinse-aid : You will need to fill in a rinse-aid liquid in the designated container which will be consumed slowly over a month or two.

3. Salt :  You will need to fill about 1 – 1.5 kgs  of special salt in the salt unit. This is because the machine requires soft water for best results and the salt helps in softening water.

The rinse-aid liquid and salt can be loaded and used over a period of time. When exhausted, an indicator will glow on the display board. The detergent, however, has to be loaded for every run of the dishwasher.

There are special detergents for the Siemens dishwasher. My dishwasher came with recommended detergent called Finish power ball and I had not heard about its benefits but was pleasantly surprised to know that I did not need to rinse all vessels before loading just scrape the leftover. I would have argued on the benefits of house help vs dishwasher, cost, labour but this just cut down my arguments. What a blessing!

The Curry:

My findings;

DAY 1: For this, I selected 50 minutes eco cycle. This was the first time I was using the dishwasher so I was very careful.

DAY 10: For this, I selected Auto cycle 40-50 minutes. By now we were a bit more comfortable and had been adding greased vessels, dirty tea strainers etc.

Day 25: Now having gotten used to the dishwasher and it’s benefits and now we wanted to experiment more. So we added greased vessels, boiled milk vessels, ultra stained tea strainer, dirty cups etc.

The results were more than sparkling.

Verdict:

 What I like most about the Siemens dishwasher :

I wish this could be improved
