How Stay Fresh This Summer Season – Deodorants

Isn’t it getting really hot? Mumbai’s heat is peaking this summer. Heat means sweat and though I don’t sweat  crazy, I can’t avoid sweating when I indulge in exercise. Yeah, I said ‘indulge’. If you follow my blogs, you would know fitness for me is a chosen lifestyle. So, I can’t avoid sweating after an of rigorous core training or yoga. But, I am always conscious of it. Not only does it form a stain on my clothing which looks ugly, but also releases  an odour which does not appeal to me, bless the others ;)!
Trust me  bad odour can put people off, no matter how good you look or dress! When we sweat, bacteria grows in our pits, thus the stink. But if we can prevent the bacteria from growing.
So what can you do ? Wear a deodorant, simple!
While picking a deodorant the factors you need to keep in mind are,
Scent, consistency, usability, bottle shape, irritation, drying factor etc.
Easiest way to do this is to buy deodorants off-the-shelf or order online.
There is no perfect deodorant or antiperspirant to choose, and with varying results from each product truly the choice comes down to personal preference. For those allergic to deodorant the choice might not be so easy, and can vary depending on which deodorants or antiperspirants cause the allergic symptoms and signs and which don’t cause any adverse reactions. To avoid causing serious damage to your skin, it is imperative to ensure your skin is safe and free of rashes or redness caused by allergens.
But if you are amongst those who get a dark patch like me then you might like to explore some more options, deodorants which are moisturising or organic ones, which you can make at home.

Let’s explore some;

Recipe for Homemade Deodorant with Coconut Oil

The recipe is simple….
Ingredients:
1/4 cup melted unrefined extra virgin coconut oil which corresponds to 4 tablespoons of solid coconut oil
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup corn starch
10 drops of essential oils (I used lavender and tea tree oil)
Glass jar with lid
Steps:
Place all the dry ingredients into a bowl .
Add the melted coconut oil and essential oils and stir well.
You’ll end up with a fragrant paste which should be poured into a jar before it solidifies. Remember, coconut oil’s natural state is solid, and the end product should look something like this.
Leave it to cool naturally before placing it in the fridge for extra solidification. I like to keep it at room temperature for easier application, but you can also keep it in your fridge.
