Meet These Two Women Who Are The Change Drivers The World Needs- In Association With SheThePeople Tv

On our platform, we have always brought to you women who are creating impact around the world and changing it just a little bit for the better. Aditi Seshadri and Priya Thachadi are two such women who are driving impact by reducing poverty, gender inequality and reducing climate change impact through their organisation, Unlock Impact

They have been recently nominated under 5th edition of SheThePeople.tv Digital Women Awards, presented by Google. These are going to be held on Nov 23 at a power packed function in Gurgaon.

The Jury for the awards is led by a panel of strong industry names such as Shivya Nath, Travel Blogger, Elsa Marie D’Silva, Founder Safecity, Akila Urankar, President Business Standard, Deepali Naair and Shaili Chopra, Founder of SheThePeople.TV.

Unlock Impact partners with businesses and NGOs, government and civil society, to design and deliver sustainable solutions that help reduce and tackle poverty. They help create and run models that are scalable and measurable.

We interviewed the two and here are some snippets of our conversation.

The interesting thing about the founders, Aditi and Priya is that they run this remotely and virtually while being based in Goa and Philippines, respectively.

How do you manage to work remotely?

Today the world is all digital and virtual and while sometimes in a traditional setup they have to break the ice in the beginning, they have managed so far and done it well.

Any interesting stories  or experiences that you would like to share?

So once we were working in Nepal, interviewing farmers to provide them solar based irrigation fund, as a lot of parts of Nepal are still not electrified. They got very excited thinking that we are from India and that our Hindi will be great and so will  be our Bollywood knowledge. And both Priya and I being South Indians, had terrible Hindi and our intel on Bollywood was even worse. This was interesting but more than that it empowered us because we realised that our work could create a difference in lives of the underprivileged.

Give us some insight into the wonderful work you do?

We have kicked off our efforts to achieve gender equality with an initiative of our own. Unlock Impact’s Comms Ninja Initiative where we connects experienced women communication managers to small and growing social enterprises, solving a critical talent issue in the sector, but virtually. More and more incredibly talented women are looking for flexible work opportunities as they want to continue to play their roles as mothers and caregivers and but also fulfil their potential as professionals.

In keeping with our mission to address the climate crisis, we are continuing to support entrepreneurs who are building green, clean solutions.  We are currently working closely with the fantastic team at HiGi Energy, a social enterprise that aims to reduce the usage of firewood and charcoal by converting agricultural wastes into convenient smokeless biomass briquettes to provide cleaner and cheaper alternative cooking energy. This young team is committed to changing the charcoal industry by providing cleaner options to users.

Are you excited on being nominated and why do you think you should win?

Priya-

We were pleasantly surprised on being nominated and when we saw the list of women on it, it was full of some wonderful women creating great impact. For us nomination is also wonderful. We believe we are here because in our own way we are helping to bring resources to smaller organisations and setups. These social organisations with the right tools will empowered in their journey. We are an impact driven organisation and we want to be drivers of that change.

SheThePeople.TV, India’s largest storytelling platform for women is the force behind Digital Women Awards and we are so glad that we have platforms like these that bring out the stories of women doing some extraordinary work.

Hope you enjoyed reading the story of Aditi and Priya. We hope to keep bringing you more such stories in the future.
