They say kids are little angels and the lights in their eyes are a sparkle of their soul. Their innocence dwells in the land of elves and Santas and it is on us to let them keep believing in the magic of Christmas. Christmas is around the corner and while you are planning to throw a party for your toddler and his/her friends here are a few party game ideas and other useful tips that will help you plan a lovely bash.

Decor:

It’s time to deck the halls and get your homes dressed in holiday style. Begin by adorning your outdoors in tinsel decorations sporting the festive colors of the season—gold, silver, red or green. Christmas is all about families and festivities. One great idea would be to decorate the hall wall with family photographs.

We always decorate the Christmas tree with beautiful lights and Christmas decor. Let kids make their own decorations and hang them along the ones you have bought from the market. This will personalise the tree and make them feel involved.

While some of us have moved to plastic trees, some of us still love the traditional decor and real trees decorated for Christmas. Make the house as warm as possible and bring in the Christmas magic.

Games:

#1 Tossing the Ring

You can use skittles or unbreakable bottles for this game to ensure safety. Your toddlers have to toss the rings around these bottles. The kids who manage to toss the maximum number of rings wins the price.

#2 Pin the tail on the bunny

All you need for this classic game is to put up a hand-drawn sketch of a bunny that has been coloured attractively for the kids.
You can blindfold the kid and lead them to the sketch with the tail of the bunny which has some glue/ Blu-Tack on it. The kid who sticks the tail correctly, wins. Older siblings or dads can be asked to carry on the show for the kids.

#3 Colouring contests

Print out cute designs as colouring sheets and provide some crayons. Make sure the colours are non-toxic.

Best coloured design wins the prize. Easy as that! To avoid clashes, make groups of same-aged kids. Make sure all the kids get a consolation prize even if they don’t win!

#4 Tea Party Game

The idea of a tea party works really nicely for little girls.
Set up a small table with kids’ plates, cups and saucers.
You can serve chips, munchies and ice tea during the party.

#5 Dance Party Game

The good old dance party is super easy to set up with nothing required.
Just a music player and some fun songs and rhymes for the kids to swing to.
One twist that can be brought about in this game is to randomly stop the music and every kid who is dancing has to stop. The ones who do not stop immediately, get eliminated. The game continues till we get a winner.

#6 Fun with Balloons

You can ask the kids to decorate their balloons with coloured marker pens, coloured tapes, and paper cut-outs. The best decoration wins a prize.
Alternatively, somebody can demonstrate to the kids how to make simple and quick balloon animals.

#7 Treasure hunt

Out of a draw of chits, have each kid pick out a particular colour.
The treasure hunt would involve kids finding toys and stationery in that particular colour around the backyard. The kid who finds maximum items gets a prize.
Alternatively, you can let the kids keep the goodies they have found. To limit the budget, scatter stuff like pens, pencils, toffee, crayons, key chains, etc. around the backyard. Since this is an outdoor specific game, outdoors can be daunting with mosquitoes around. Do remember to apply 4 dots of Goodknight Fabric Roll-On on their clothes.
