How To Make Winter wear Work For You: Top 10 Winter wear Trends For Women In 2016

Top 10 Winter wear Trends For Women In 2016

Winter is the time when hot fashion really evolves. It is also my favourite season and I miss it so much in the not-so-cold Mumbai city, but December has started with a promise of slightly colder winter and I can’t help but rub my hand in glee to try some of the latest trends for this season. For those of you who are lucky enough to stay in places where the temperature goes well below zero and get to layer up, get ready to grab some really good tips here.

While these trends are directly from the runway we have deciphered them to suit your everyday style into more practical wear. The top 10 trends this winter as per fashion forecasts are;

Bomber Jackets

Bomber jackets are here to stay and they have been hopping from season to season. It’s amazing how they were a huge trend in summers and now have made their way through winter as well. They make the perfect winter wear fashion statement

Turtlenecks-

They are evergreen and very practical as they keep you insulated well. The biggest trend this year is to wear them under dresses and suits. Now you can pull off some really cool looks without having to worry about feeling cold.

Infinity Scarf-

Infinity scarves are those loop-hole scarves which ideally cover your whole neck, like a piece of jewellery. During fall and winter, they not only look stylish but are a great source of warmth as well. You can team them up with Tees, dresses, shirt, almost everything and with a nice print they can bring in a pop of colour. The coolest ones I found are where you can have an entire book printed on it (Lithographs). Now wear your favourite book or print around your neck.

Statement Sleeves:

Long sleeves and puffed ones to keep you warm and stylish this winter. They tend to extend beyond the fingers make gloves look like a passe’.

Prints

Prints are huge this winters and are so versatile. They range from stripes to polkas to animal patterns to flirtatious florals to Prince of Wales checks just to spruce up your outfit.

Capes-

Capes are a perfect layer over your clothing. They are stylish and keep you warm. You can wear them as overcoats or wear cape tops to be in vogue.

Sweater Dress-

These are the cutest winter trend this season. They let you doll up and look all girly. Throw on a blazer and knee high boots to get different looks.

8.Fur: Fur adds character to even a simple outfit. From nautical stripes, to bright pops to camo prints are all in this winter. You can wear fur coats or stole which can be draped diagonal or get attached it to your lapel as a cozy faux collar.

Maxi skirts:

The 1970s look have made a comeback with the maxi skirt. They are more interesting now incorporating pleats, slits, lace and tulle. Some tips to carry them off; If the skirts are loose try and keep the top fitted tight. If they are tight, the top should be worn loose. If the skirt is plain go for more skin around the shoulders and chest to add interest. If there’s a slit, then keep the top covered.

Platform Boots:

This 1980s look with a twist is doing the rounds this season. Heels can be twisted to add that extra zing to the look.

Now that you know the trends if you might be wondering how to put the look together?

Just remember that layering is the way to go, but don’t try and put more than 2-3 trends together when creating a look or else it looks sketchy. Keep it layered, keep it simple, add a pop or a color here and there and you are set to go girl. The storyboards that I have created above should give you enough ideas on how you can wear a look be it long sleeves, sweater dress or bomber jacket.
