How To Manage Hair Loss After Having A Baby

How To Manage Hair Loss After Having A Baby

Having a baby is the most beautiful moment of any mother’s life. Nurturing an entire human being inside of your own body for nine months and then watching them come to life, holding their tiny body in your hands, it’s the best feeling in the entire universe. But having a baby can have its own consequences. During and after having a baby, there are various hormonal changes that the body goes through. Postpartum hair loss is a normal change that is unrelated to breastfeeding. Hair loss after giving birth is a temporary change. Most women return to their usual hair growth cycle soon after giving birth.

Due to the birth of the baby, the hair follicles enter into the resting phase of which is followed by the hair shedding phase begins. The hair loss commonly starts three months after birth.

But don’t worry,  I got you covered. Following are some tips and tricks that the new moms can follow. I know that hair fall is a great concern but since you already have the baby to be concerned about, you can follow these tips to make sure that all your attention is towards the baby and not your falling hair.

Good Haircut

By getting a good haircut, I mean something that is short and suits your face at the same time. Short hair doesn’t tangle so much and therefore, you can go days without having to even brush your hair.

Experiment With Hairstyles

Not all people like short haircuts and that’s okay. You can instead experiment with your hair and try different hairstyles that you think will go with your face. But you should try the hairstyles that are not very harsh on your scalp and does not pull your hair too much. Do your hairstyle lose and that is easy to remake.

Right Shampoo And Conditioner

Buying a good shampoo and conditioner that matches your hair type is a great investment for your hair. Buying shampoo and conditioner according to your hair type helps bring out the best in your hair.

Different Styling Products For Hair Loss

Using different types of hair styling products will give your hair the requires amount of volume. This will make your hair look fuller and they will appear thick. This will help because due to excessive hair loss, the hair will start looking thin and dull and start sticking to your scalp. So, you should try out some different hair products like mousses or texturisers that will make your hair look voluminous.

 Avoid Harsh Brushes And Combs

Brushing is good when you wanna get rid of all the tangles but if the brush is too harsh on your hair, you may suffer from more hair loss. Always use a brush with soft bristles or a comb that is wide-toothed. Do not comb your hair when wet, if you do, do it with a wide-toothed comb and not a brush. And always work your way up. When combing your hair always start untangling from the bottom and then work your way up.

Lastly, do not go for any harsh hair treatments as the hair follicles lose strength and a harsh treatment can do more damage than good. I had my hair straightened and that resulted in me suffering from alopecia. Check with a dermatologist if you are having major hair fall.
