Life and times of an overworked homemaker!

Homemaker O’homemaker thou life is like a soap opera,
where the main cast are your maids(cleaning, cooking ,baby care), your in laws, your kids, your husband and you are the only crew!

You hire as much help as you want, but no day without any drama will ever get through!

One day the maid will not turn up, the other day you will have kids falling ill,
then your husband’s friends are having a impromptu party or maybe  your in-laws complain about the time they spend with you.

Homemaker your life is not simple and now it’s getting to you.
In all this daily rigmarole, where are you?

Almost all women, feel this stress and tiredness at some point of their lives. Really, if we were not such multi taskers, how would the world be managed? My kids have the weekends off, my hubby too. They are tired after school and work and need to wind off then. My maid gets two  monthly offs(and takes many more non approved ones). Whereas, for me ,my day starts at 5.30 am, with getting kids ready for school, making tiffins, breakfast and ends at 11 pm after they fall asleep. That’s when my me time starts, generally that’s the time all my creative ideas flow in and I blog. So finally, I end up sleeping at 1 pm. My working week never ends, I have no weekly offs or monthly offs or even yearly offs.
I am clearly the most overworked, overstressed individual of the house and with no gratification.

Lets have close look at tasks at hand-

  • Cooking and cooking with variety (healthy for self, spicy and fried for hubby, non spicy and healthy for kids with great presentation).
  • Should be able to clean, dust and mop and be a replacement for any maid that is absconding.
  • Generally or atleast occasionally be able to drive a car(To drop kids to school and take them to a doctor, that is if I am not driving them everyday to school).
  • Should be a walking, talking encyclopedia of everything to tackle daily questions posed by kids.
  • Home management, renovation, maintenance and budgeting.
  • Should be ready and able to double up as an accountant, peon(run any errand , if required), carpenter, project manager etc.
  • Has to take care of her personal maintainence and should always be dressed appropiately with a smile. If you complain you’re tagged ‘grumpy’ and ‘nagging’!
  • Have oodles of patience to deal with all the above tasks at hand and be able to tackle needs and demands of all the family members at any point of time.

Now, if only I was paid for this, I would probably be earning atleast 6 figure salary!!!!!
Wishful thinking :0)!!
