This Is Why Instant Noodles Are A DealBreaker For Me And My Family!!

Instant Noodles

I am on a diet, and I want only healthy options.

I am bored of eating this mom!

Can we order pizza today?

Are these your common household sounds? Are you nerve racking your brain for options to give your little ones and your hubby?

As a woman and as a mom, your household revolves around you. I am not saying your man doesn’t pitch in but in most homes, you are making decisions around the house. Amongst these, one thing I get pained most about is deciding what to cook or get cooked every day. Not only does it have to be healthy, but tasty and nutritious. It consumes a lot of my time and mind space, which trust me I can use more creatively elsewhere.

I switched to fitness and eating right, years ago. The more I ate right, more I realized what disservice I was doing to my body earlier. I make sure my family also makes the right choice when it comes to their food. However, if you eat right on most days once in a while, indulgence is fine. My kids love noodles and they are easy to make, so once in a few weeks, I let them have it.

So then why am I writing about it here?

Recently I learnt that apart from being made from refined flour, the noodles are also deep fried before being packed. This is a dealbreaker for me. My kids and my family’s health are my priority and noodles make a complete unhealthy choice. Even if you buy best instant noodles available in the market, they are going to be high on empty calories and fat, and low on nutrition.

What was I going to do now?

I discussed my issue within a Facebook group and someone pointed me towards Masala Oats. They are also customised to the Indian Palate but let’s first understand why is this a healthier choice?

Oats are a healthy choice, why?

Clearly, Instant Noodle’s stock was out of my kitchen after learning that they are deep fried before being packed, it makes them all the more unhealthy. I did a comparison study between Instant noodles and oats and was amazed to know some really interesting facts about Oats.

So healthy aspect of this is established. My only worry that remained, will my kids like oats?

Will my kids like Oats?

Now that’s a question I also had until I discovered many, many outstanding instant recipes online that can be made from masala oats.  Oats Tikki, Oats dosa, Oats and paneer gujiya and even oats poha. We generally use Saffola masala oats.

I found hundreds of recipes and I am sure with so much variety served to them every day, they will be spoilt for choice. It’s time for me to switch to a healthier yet tastier option. What about you? Do let us know if you also have switched to oats? Would you still consume instant noodles? Just let us know your views on this.
