Wrapping Up 2018…Are You Reflecting Too?

reflecting 2018Are you already wrapping up the year 2018 and writing your resolutions for the next year?

It’s time to reflect on where the year flew away and I don’t know if like me you are wondering whatever happened to the goals you had penned down for 2018. It did pass away really quickly, no?

Unlike every other year, when I am really good at keeping up with my resolutions, I think I may have been over-ambitious with this year. I mean I would have run a full marathon if I hadn’t suffered from multiple injuries. Minor ligament tear, a cramping knee, tennis elbow, and contraction in my lower lumbar, which I am still trying to give a name to, have slowed me down. Real runners and not seasonal ones like me, please don’t give me grief or gyaan. I know most of the injuries would have never held you back, they did bring down my potential. Or maybe I just didn’t want to commit to so many early morning runs.

I would have written a book, but then I got so caught up with my travels and kid’s schedules and now that my permanent house help is quitting, I am not in a mental frame to write one. She is my lifeline, ok?

And swimming, OMG, I have been doing breaths for years in my four-feet-pool but put me in the deep end of a pool and I will drown. So basically, I am a fake swimmer and this is one goal, I write every year and keep finding excuses to pass it on to the next year. One year by the time I got to the pool, it was July and raining, the next year my back started paining. And one year when I actually, was learning, I got really bad tanning. Stop smirking!!

Hiking up one of my favourite mountains and doing a yoga course did help me feel better this year though, but now that it’s long gone. The endorphins or whatever else hormones might have been born out of it have finally faded and as I pen this, I am already thinking of creative excuses to have basically avoided the other goals.

Well for me, fitness was something I adopted many years ago, so losing weight, getting fit has not been a goal I pen down anymore. It’s a part of my life and thankfully so. I feel almost virtuous telling you this ;). Licking my wounds as I pick up my pen to write new ones.

I wonder, what is that will give me a feeling of accomplishment next year?

Spiraling back I write the first three goals again and cross my fingers to achieve them at least by end of 2019.

Sounds familiar?
