Please don’t grow up!

“Mama, who is troubling you?”,a genuine question which Ahaan(my LO)keeps asking me every now and then when he finds me uncomfortable.”Papa!Papa,is hitting me.”,Vikram had been poking me and I was irritated.Instantly,Ahaan comes in his Ninja mode and takes his imaginary swords out from the back of his Tshirt and makes a dash towards my unsuspecting hubby who was anyway leaving the room.So the swords hit the backside of Vikram with a  “Eeya” sound from my ninja.Vikram reacts with a strong pat of Ahaan’s backside. So my poor baby comes crying to me,”Papa,is hitting me too.”
“Baby, you need to make some muscles, eat better and get stronger to fight with papa.”,I cuddled him up and tried to comfort him.A few minutes later,I see Ahaan roaming around shirtless.”Ahaan, where is your shirt, why are you not wearing it?”.”Mama!”,he flexes his muscles and says in all his innocence,”See,my body”.We are by now rolling on the floor, thanks to all the body building imagery.
God!How I wish he never loses this innocence.

All mothers go through this dilemma,I remember when Eeshan(my elder son)was born,I wanted him to start opening his eyes as quickly as possible ,then wanted him to start turning ,then crawling, then was very impatient when he did not start walking by his first birthday. He was late to form sentences  and it went on.I was so busy trying to get him to meet his milestones, that I forgot to enjoy his initial years.

He is 8 now,and feels awkward to hug me in public(aww!).Luckily,I have my little brat ,Ahaan(3.5 years)who reminds me to enjoy these precious moments. But he is growing too and so quickly.Hugging, kissing and playing with him are real stress busters.Since he is the second child and now I am a more experienced mom, I do to hit the panic button ,every time he has a fever or cold.I know how to handle it and that puts me at so much ease.

I am his universe and my universe has my family and friends and things that I want to do in life. That’s the difference between the sweet age of innocence and maturity. Please don’t grow up!
