Tips For Organizing An Awesome Holi Party

Tips For Organizing An Awesome Holi Party

Holi is one festival that is all about having fun going crazy with colours. Holi could be a perfect excuse to forget your differences, get over the cold wars with some friends and cherishing the relations in your life. So, if you are planning to host a Holi get-together at your home, here are a few tips.

#1 Colorful Invites and return favours

Holi is a festival of colors, fun, and frolic. If you are looking forward to hosting a great Holi party at your place, the first step must be sending cheerful invites to your friends and family.

Create personalized Holi invitees, to send out or nowdays the trend is to create small videos invites and forward them through whatsapp. While I love handmade cards, e-invites save paper. As return favours, give out a box of homemade gujiyas and a bottle of thandai and save some bucks, instead of going for branded boxes of sweets or hampers.

#2 Use Organic Colors:

As a host, you surely would not like your guests developing skin allergies and complaining about them later. So use either natural colorants like Haldi, flower paste, food colorants, rice powder, Chandan etc or to the very least, buy organic colours from reliable brands.

This is a good move because one this is an offbeat idea which many people do not actually use. Secondly, your guests would not get any rashes or skin sensitivity. Last and the most important, you are helping the environment by saving lots of water as organic colours are easily removable and you are not releasing any chemical waste into the environment.

#3 Food and snacks menu:

The most convenient way is to hire a caterer at your place. You do not want to bear the pressure of having to cook so much. Ordering from the restaurant would again be a hassle as you would need to heat the food time and again and many may be closed due to the festivities.

A food menu consisting of things like: Gujiya, Malpua, chole bhature, pav bhaji, papri chaat and finger food should suffice. Please make sure that there are enough waiters serving snacks throughout the party.

#4 Beverages

Coming to drinks, make arrangements for thandai, bhang-laced thandai, hot coffee, tea etc. You can check out the traditional recipe for thandai here.

#5 Music and songs:

Holi party is incomplete without loud music and Holi themed songs playing in the background!! So, get ready to groove to some happening music. Have a playlist of old as well as new Holi songs ready and make enough arrangements for a music system and if, possible a mike to make certain announcements.

We suggest:Holi Ke Din (Sholay), Holi Khele Raghuveera (Baghban), Ang Se Ang Lagana (Darr), Do Me A Favour Let’s Play Holi (Waqt- The Race Against Time), Balam Pichkari (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) and the latest number from Jolly LLB 2 (Go Pagal). Have a blast!!

So, folks tighten your belts, plan a budget and shoot!! Ah, yes and a very Happy Holi to you all :)!!
