Asics Tiger : One Shoe Many Fits

A woman with good shoes is never ugly.

-Coco Chanel

Good shoes are a woman’s weakness and her pride too. I have been using ASICS running shoes since last two years and I can’t explain the comfort. Recently ASICS launched their lifestyle section and ASICS Tiger shoes with the Gel technology and my eyes were glued to them even at the launch. Luckily I got these lovely shoes sent to me recently.

Apart from comfort what I love about these shoes that they can be styled with almost anything because of the colour. Nude is such a neutral colour. Just to have fun, I decided to try this on different outfits. As expected, they gelled well with my wrap around dress as they did with my boyfriend jeans.

A little introduction to the shoe, the GEL-LYTE V features a ‘MONOSOCK’  ie a highly elastic tongue and leather upper, which improves the fit. My personal experience was that it felt super comfortable and cushioned. The kind of shoe which you would take for your vacations especially when it involves hours of walking and still look chic.

I decided to do a small experiment where I gave these shoes to three different women and asked them to use them as they wanted(running/walking/casual wear) and give me feedback. This gives you different perspectives to the shoe;
Ranjana is a home baker and I can personally vouch for her cakes. When I approached her with this concept she was more than accommodating. Since she spends most of her time in her kitchen we decided to shoot her there. In her own words;

 I like wearing shoes at home and like to walk around a lot in the house. These are really comfortable and I liked the ankle support they give. Plus I don’t like laces so slipping into them was cool. Whether I am standing long hours while baking or even sitting down I found them supporting me throughout.

She has a beautiful space in her balcony where she likes to sit down with her cup of tea either with her spouse or just enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the space once in a while.

Shilpa a freelance editor and an ex-journalist is a fitness enthusiast. Her taekwondo workouts are not a joke and sometimes they go up to 100 kicks, 500 squats all in one session. She needs to wear well-supported shoes and has been using ASICS Nimbus for the last two years and she felt these shoes ie ASICS Gel Lyte are even more cushioned and the ankle socks gave her a really good support.

Seema Ahuja an ex-banker, a trained kathak dancer, a home chef is a woman with myriad talents. We gave her the ASICS Tiger shoes and checked with her after two days. Seema loves going for long walks and that helps clear her head and keep her active.

Like all of us, she loved the ankle support feature of the shoes and looked very comfortable in them even while we were shooting her. She felt that these shoes were less cushioned than her ASICS Kayano which she is currently using but instantly added in that she cannot wear the Kayano to parties or team up with dresses while she is holidaying as it is very clearly a running shoe.

It was very interesting to get so many different opinions on the same shoe and I loved this small experiment. What I have tried doing is getting you unbiased views from women from different walks of life. If you would like to see more such posts do let me know in the comments.
