What’s Your Favourite Furniture Story?

A good piece of furniture can life up space in your abode like nothing else. It not only talks about your taste but a well-designed home can add warmth to a house. But sometimes things that are a piece of your favourite furniture also have a story behind them.
I have studied fashion design and while I am not working in that field the concepts really come in handy. I remember we bought our first home my first baby was on it’s way and designing my first house happened much after. So we went room by room, passionately designing every corner and every piece of furniture we designed was with a lot of research and using the best of materials. That time I didn’t realise that we would be moving many homes later. While in every new house we changed the furniture as it goes through wear and tear, we also remodelled some pieces that we didn’t want to part from.
We all have some favourite chair or corner in the room. Here are my favourite furniture pieces and why are they my favourite? Read on to know.
This sofa has been with us almost for eleven years. It is the part of my kid’s childhood, my fondest memory is when we dressed my little one as Krishna and did a shoot on it. All our happy family movie times were spent on it eating popcorns. During all our parties this is where we hosted our friends and it was even a factor in blossoming some relationships right here in our home. Every time we thought of getting rid of it, we would end up changing its upholstery and it was as good as new. There were so many beautiful moments that had been clicked on this that I realised this had become a part of our lives and memories and is not only a piece of furniture for us.
As a child, I loved the idea of a bunk bed while browsing through magazines but the small town I lived in and with the limited budget that my parents it never really happened. The furniture in those times was made only once and lasted a lifetime as did the homes. So when I had my second kid and we bought our second home I was very excited to design a bunk bed for them. My younger one was just two years when we moved in the new house. While I had designed steps instead of stairs he never used them. He would climb onto the ledge near the window, then climb onto the study table and then pull himself up the bed. It was scary but somehow he mastered it. Keeping night stays in mind we also designed a pullout bed for his friends to sleep in. The bunk bed was not only popular with my kids but with his friends too.
Now that my elder one is near to entering his teens I have to replace this kiddy bunk bed with something more suitable for his age. While browsing through the #MollyCoddle range in #Pepperfry I found this piece as a great replacement.
What do you think of this one? Do you also have a favourite piece of furniture or corner of the room?
