PINKATHON……Lead to run!

2012 started with a resolution to start taking running seriously for me,it was already December and I had done nothing serious in the direction. So,I took the 10K,Pinkathon(many a jokes have been cracked on the name, but I like it ;0)!) as a challenge. Now for those of you who run regularly it might seem like a small task, but was a humongous one for me.

Pinkathon is a run organised for breast cancer awareness and cause amongst women. The first ever race was organised in Mumbai today on 16th December at Bandra Kurla complex,by Maximus Events in partnership with Tata Memorial hospital and Women’s Cancer Initiative.
Myself and Milind

Spokesperson for the event were Milind Soman and Reema Sanghvi, director Maximus Event . Actor Milind Soman, who organised the race, thanked people for showing their support and hoped that such initiatives continue to spread awareness about such causes. “We are immensely proud to have garnered such widespread support from different quarters and thank each participant for playing an important part. We trust that this will help women realise that they need to be constantly aware and spread the word around,” said Milind. He happily posed with eager women like me .
Clearly he is still a gentleman and a complete hottie till date.

With RJ Mallishka

A bevy of celebrities from the showbiz industry, including actress Lisa Haydon, Tara Sharma and VJ Anusha Dandekar, put on their running shoes here to be a part of Pinkathon .There were 3,5 and 10K races organised.RJ Mallishka ,was the mascot for the race.

We were all given Pinkathon Tshirts and pink badge for breast awareness so that we all look like pink sisters.
Before the race began ,there was Jumba workout session organised by Talwarkar’s trainers for warm ups.
The 10 K race was flagged off at 7.10 am by Karishma Kapoor(who was looking stunning) and Milind Soman. There were signposts marking each Km(this kind of kept me going) and volunteers with water bottles.I was running with a friend Beena, who is a seasoned runner and she kept giving me tips on how keep my breath steady, keep myself hydrated and take short walking  breaks in between. She infact had to slow down for me (I am novice ;0),so give me a break!) many a times, but she was very sporting.
At the finish line we got excited and ran the last 100m in great speed to be welcomed by great cheers from everyone.I managed to finish in 1hr 20 minutes(not a great standard, but since it was my first race ,I guess I am happy!).
At the end of the race we were given certificates, refreshments and goodies bag…(added incentive!).
There were also prize distribution for winners and some lucky bib prize as well.

A very Happy us with our Pink Goodies Bag!

Overall,a very well organised event :0)!!

Survival rates are as high as 98 per cent if the cancer is caught in time. So perform a self-check every month, and visit your gynaecologist once a year for a clinical exam.
