Quick Shahi Tukra Recipe

I have a sweet tooth and once in a while I do like to indulge in an easy but sinful dessert “Shahi Tukra”!!
As the name symbolises Royalty, it is indeed the ultimate in taste, it’s roots are deeply embedded in Mughal cuisine!
Made in Desi ghee, it could be described as a bread pudding infused with Cardamom, bathed in Sugar Syrup.
The method is simple yet needs some precision for gratifying results!!

You Need!!
10-12 slices of white bread
3-4 tablespoon Desi ghee
1 spoon Cardamom powder
1.5 cup sugar
1.5 cup water

Process:
1. Chop the sides of the bread and cut them into four squares per slice.

2. In a pan boil the water and add sugar on low heat, let the sugar dissolve and boil, till it reaches the one string stage

p.s ( sugar syrup becomes thicker as it boils and to test its consistency you can take out a spoon of it, let it cool and between two fingers it forms a sugar string).
3. Keep the sugar syrup aside to cool.
4. In a Kadai(pan), heat the ghee and fry the bread pieces till they are light golden on both sides.

5.Add the bread pieces to the syrup with cardamom.

6. Ready to serve !!

Add ons: You can serve it with ‘rabri'( condensed form of milk) and can garnish with broken pistachio on top and rose petals. You can go as exotic or as basic as you want.

Believe me, you will not stop at just one piece!!
The union of syrup with crispy fried bread in desi ghee is divine!
