Sabudana Khichchdi Made Easy !!

sabudana khichchdi cover

Learning to cook after marriage was  very slow yet rewarding experience!!
I didn’t even know to boil water per say when I got married!!
Watching my Mom-in-law and trying it one step at a time had brought me to mastering the most difficult of them all ‘The Sabudana Kichchadi’ !!
It’s my favourite!! Keeping Nine days Vrat(fast) in the recent Navratras(Indian Festival) and having it every day was a delight!

Try it mommies!!

Sabudana Khichadi!!

Ingredients:
2cups sabudana
2-3 boiled potatoes
2-3 tablespoon crushed peanuts
Coriander to garnish
Pepper
Salt
2-3 Green chillies chopped
1 tsp cumin
Desi ghee
Lemon

Method:

The key is to rinse the sabudana
Take a bowl full of sabudana ie 2-3 bowls and wash it in water
Rinse out the water and let very little amount remain in the bowl…let it soak for 5-6 hours or overnight.

The next day boil potatoes and peel for use
Take the crushed peanuts, finely chop green chillies and coriander.

In a pan put 2-3tsp desi ghee
Add cumin
Let it pop and now add mashed
Potatoes with ur hand and peanuts

Let them roast till light brown for 15 mins on low heat

On the side mix pepper salt coriander and chillies to the sabudana
Just before serving toss in this mix in the pan with the roasted potatoes

Again the key is to toss the mix not fold in … Do not over cook otherwise it becomes sticky
It takes a few times to get if right but but don’t give up!!!

Serve with lemon !!
Enjoy !!
