5 Awesome Ideas To Redecorate Your Kid’s Room

kids room decor

I remember growing in a huge house with large windows and multiple doors to each room. I never really understood the design of the house. Also, my house had no corner which was known as a kid’s room. I would go through Interior design magazines and always drool at the pretty rooms that some kids had. I remember making a promise to myself then that when I have a house of my own, I will decorate it in the cutest way possible and give them their own corner.

And I did! I used  my entire creativity, ideas and designing skills in their room. But you know kids, they get bored too easily and soon, I could hear;

You have given me the worst room in the house!

I hate my room!

My friend’s room is so awesome !!

I had spent too much time, energy and money doing up their room and couldn’t redo it.

But then I wanted them to relate to the room as their own.

So I decided to make some simple changes to change the look and feel and this time I used my kids for brainstorming. This way the onus was on them.

This is what we came up with and I am sharing these here as I think these tips will help you too;

The biggest tip when you’re getting your kid’s room done would be to paint the walls  in a nuetral shade so that you can you can keep changing the accents and color themes around it.

Accentuate

Accentuate with creative, bright and quirky accessories, it can be an eye-popping lamp or a  melting candle pen stand. Even one such accessory can bring interest to the room and remove the mundane. Remember how as kids you used to love anything new and pretty. Well, that’s what appeals to kids too!

Use Wall Decals

The best thing about them is that they can be easily pasted and removed from the walls. So now when your child outgrows a particular theme of the room. You can change it easily.

Make It Playful

The rooms should speak their language.  My younger one is super energetic and sometimes it’s a task to sober him down. A good idea for active kids would be to  add a wall climbing frame for your kid to release their energy. If you have an older kid then a pull-up bar can be great for him too.

Reading Den

This should be the cosy corner of the room. And maybe the brightest spot. It should attract the kid to head straight there once he or she enters the room. This instills the kids into a lovely reading habit. My home has always had lots of books and both my kids are love reading. I just needed to make it more attractive to them.

Establish A Connection

The room should feel and be theirs. So a cool idea would be to use one wall to fill with their happy moments pictures or milestones. Drawings that they  have created, their favourite animation Super heroes and more such things that they can relate to. The more the room talks about them, the more they will feel connected.

Hope these cool tips will increase your coolness quotient with your kids 🙂 and you find them useful.
