Kala Ghoda Festival 2013

A festivity that I look forward to every year and one which connects me to the culture in our very vibrant Mumbai!Kala Ghoda festival brings it all, shopping, culture, art, performing arts, workshops, cinema, vibrancy for us and for kids as well. This year the festival from 2nd to 10th Feb,so if you haven’t caught it ,do it over the weekend.Best part,it’s free for all.All workshops ,movies, dances ,music all for no cost at all.

Though the festival begins every day at 10.30 ,most of the interesting performance happen in the evening ,mostly starting after 4 pm.
Attatched is the link to the program details kala Ghoda event list
This year’s star attraction was plastic rain made by a Japanese artist. His expression through plastic bottles is an interesting concept. You are asked to pass through this rain of plastic bottles and get a feel of rain falling over you.It isn’t exactly rain, but it’s fun to go through it.

There were loads of exhibits by various artists, giving Kala Ghoda a feel and look of a techno mela.
This car was covered all over by coins by the artist and looked like it’s glam avataar.
There were various workshops held for kids, like mosaic painting, african mask making.

This poster painted by Dhirubhai Ambani school kids was very colorful and brought out the true spirit of the festival.

This handpainted banner is from NSS Hill Spring International

Check out this rocking chair made with thick cardboard, and mind you ,it is strong enough to take upto 50-60 kilos of weight. The cardboard horse was another one which caught my fancy.

This poster reminds me of the wonderful Lavani dance performance by these lovely women ,representing the spirit of aamchi Mumbai ,that I could’nt watch as it was at a different venue.
