0-3 months-
Since the baby is technically unaware of its surroundings and can’t move around much it is best to give a newborn toiletries, onesies, depending on your budget- bottle sterliser, moses basket, electronic breast pump(manual breast pump ,is not on my recommendation), cot, cot mobiles, massage mat, prams (even rattles are of not much use right now…and no teethers please!).
4-6 months-
Now the baby is moving a bit, rolling trying to drag himself forward and in some cases towards the end of 6 months crawling.
For crawlers-knee pads are a great idea
Playmats 3-6 months is good as the baby should do enough tummy playtime. Playgyms are excellent at this age where the child can interact with hanging toys, listen to music and occasionally play with rattles.
7-9 months-
Most babies start crawling by the end of the sixth month or in their seventh month…so knee pad, furniture edge protectors are a good idea. Also this is also an age for exploration so all safety gadgets are now handy, like door stoppers, cabinets and fridge locks etc. Most babies will see their first teeth around this age so teething rings and soothers are a good option too.
Baby is in good control
10-12 months-
Some babies start walking or take their first baby steps any time soon now. So push along toys and cars make a smart choice to propel them to walk.
Most parents would like to shift from prams to more light weight strollers at this age for travel.
Baby is also beginning to feed on it’s own so a feeding chair, bowls spoons, spill mat etc are a good idea. Placards with colorful objects and Alphabets is a good way to teach them words.Stacking and sorting toys make a good gift at this stage.Along with any kind of musical toys. It’s all about exploration and learning to be independent.
I hope I have given you enough ideas on what to gift a newborn and I am sure there are more and more creative ideas. Would love to know of some if you have to share.
