Whisper For The New Age Iron Woman- #OwnThose5Days

Women in my era, including myself, want to do it all. We want to work, raise babies, be fit, be a role model and in doing so we are actually turning ourselves into an ‘Iron man’. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t support the idea completely, I think we are putting unnecessary pressure on ourselves. I think years of suppressing the woman’s desire and needs has led them/us to wanting to be a man. When I was a kid, I remember praying to God to make me a boy in my next life, so that I could do all the things I was told not to being a girl. Today, when I look back, I feel I was so naive then and now I wouldn’t exchange it for anything.

I love being a woman and love the diversity that comes along. Over the years, I have used it to my advantage, so I took a break from work when I had my babies. While I was not happy leaving my career, soon I started enjoying being at home and pursuing my hobbies, spending time with my kids. There was no pressure on me to join back or be a contributor to the household income.

Now of course I am back to being really busy, as now my kids a little older and settled and I feel it’s the right time to re- invent myself. There are so many women, I keep meeting who are in the same boat. We want to do more, we need to do more and we can do with any amount of support we get. I actually used to be upset during my monthly cycle, as it would slow me down, but as I grew I have learned to embrace it. I am not the new age Iron Man/ Woman or competing for one, but I as a mom/wife/entrepreneur I hate it when anything hinders my space or puts even a comma in my leap :).

Right from my childhood, I have stuck to one brand i.e. Whisper. It really does support me in my painful days. The brand has reinvented itself over the years and from two centimetres thick and white being a taboo color to wear during those days, to really thin and absorbent ones that are now being launched by the brand.

The most recent launch was the New Whisper Ultra Clean that comes with 1000 suction holes to offer better protection for long hours.

At a very esteemed blogger meet, Kalki Koechlin, Gynaecologist – Dr. Nandita Palshetkar, Whisper R&D Expert – Chetan Kotyalkar & stand-up comedian and writer – Aditi Mittal brought to life the need to break free from the various irrelevant period taboos and the importance of menstrual hygiene. Read more about this and my take here

While Kalki shared her experiences, Aditi talked about taboo talks in a witty, funny manner keeping us in splits. Dr Nandita broke a few myths like it’s absolutely alright to exercise during those 5 days. Chetan took us through some unique features of the product;

My Verdict

The top sheet is a little more comfortable than it’s predecessors, but the difference is marginal.

The scent is nice and fresh, I liked it.

Faster absorption, long-lasting and better dryness: All the above factors have improved considerably. The pad lasted way longer than my earlier one.

The pad also felt thinner than the earlier one that I was using, I am not sure though that if they have changed the thickness.

Overall, I think Whisper Ultra has really improved but I would say you should try it yourself and see, as everyone has different parameters of judegment. To get a free sample click here.
