My Happiness Quotient!

I am having a bad day today! I have a lot of work to accomplish and my house helps have decided to bunk without notice. As I finished all the chores, I was getting frustrated. I desperately needed to unwind. Finally, as I sat down sipping my cup of tea, I pondered. When was the last time I was really happy or had laughed out aloud? Being the wife to an extremely workaholic husband, mother of two boisterous boys and someone trying to find her own mark in this world, I felt I had packed too much on my plate. I desperately yearned for that moment where I could just relax! Yes,when was the last time I was truly relaxed?

I started typing down my thoughts. My favourite thing in the world.
Yes, penning down my thoughts and sharing them with the world gives me immense peace and when I do interact with my readers, there is a sense of satisfaction. I think I might find a little bit of heaven there.

Fitness, means the world to me. When I started out, it was just to lose some weight, a goal and a target. But today, over the years it has become a part of my life. Like cracking that yoga pose, getting the hand movement right while swimming or improving my speed while running, even by a min/km. When I move a step forward, with fitness, I feel surrounded by happiness.

I should have been born a nomad, when I come back from a trip, I am already thinking of new places to visit. I just love to travel, explore, see history and experience new destinations. It gives me a break from my mundane life and is like oxygen for me. Whenever, we are boarding that plane or train to go to a new destination, I am  most excited and happiest person!

They say food is the soul of happiness.Trying new cuisines on my travel journeys, experimenting while cooking and visiting my favourite restaurants again and again to savour my favourite dishes. Even thinking about food brings a smile to my face …yummy!

Spending time with my girlfriends. They are my support system and fallback. With them I can share a dirty secret or just bitch about someone or take out my frustrations without having to think. They are an outlet for my emotions and sneaking out to meet them for a movie, a lunch or just a coffee, are the times, I look forward to.

In this busy life, when I am beaten aback and feeling low, the only thing that cheers me up, is, when my kids give me that loving hug of reassurance. I have no rosy picture to paint here, like any mother I get frustrated, when they litter the house, they don’t study or watch TV for unlimited hours. But when my little one kisses me and tells me ‘Mumma, it’s ok! I love you, lots and pots!’. When my elder one, seeing me flare up quietly cleans the mess he may not have even created and gives me a bear hug. That’s the moment when everything seems just worth it. When my child wins a reward , a title or a medal or is just happy, nothing in the world makes me more happy than seeing him happy!Motherhood, has it’s ups and downs but it is the most rewarding and wonderful phase of my life.

In the course of life we tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognising and appreciating of what we do have- Fredrick Keonig

Leaving you with a little bit of happiness!!Do share with us what happiness means to you.Looking forward to hear from you.
