Three Steps Approach To Being Kind And Finding Inner Peace

Three Steps Approach To Being Kind And Finding Inner Peace

 Jay Shetty, who is considered to be the monk of our times, said something that got stuck to my mind. His analogy was so unique;

We are wired for kindness.

According to him, humans are wired to being kind and if we just go on living without giving we will be unhappy and not know why.

The modern-day requires us to juggle between our professional commitments, personal problems, and health issues. One of the major health issues that have cropped up these days is related to stress and depression. The root cause of such mental illness lies in a lack of inner peace. It has become nothing short of a challenge to stay calm and sane. If you too wonder as to what is that one thing that you could possibly practice every day to stay happy amid the chaos of modern life, this article is for you.

One truth that cannot be denied is that while we want to excel in everything we do, the ultimate goal is to attain inner peace. Compassion is not luxury but is essential for our own mental stability, inner peace and is, in fact, vital for Human Survival. The path to getting inner peace is paved by kindness. One needs to be kind to himself and kind to other human beings, animals and even to the environment. Being Kind when practiced consciously, can help you navigate through intense emotions like fear, jealousy, pain, and anger. Some people are naturally kind but most of us can cultivate this quality within us by practicing this virtue on a daily basis.

If you want to feel happy, do more for others.

Here is a three-step manifesto to being kind and learn to be happy;

 You surely experience these feelings but do not get caught up in them or feel the need to block them out. You must start by being kind to yourself. Listen to your body, give yourself the rest you deserve, ditch the junk food, practice meditation, and mindfulness. It is only when you are kind to yourself first that you can be kind to others.

The next step to practice compassion is to be kind to your loved ones. Learn the art of acceptance and forgiveness. When you are kind to your family and friends, you will feel less hurt as your focus would be on giving rather than expecting back in any form. You will be able to love in a pure way. Lesser expectations and being non-judgemental would help you stay sane and at peace.

The next and a bit more challenging step is to learn to be compassionate towards even those who you do not know on a personal front. You could show kindness towards others by donating, giving away to charity, giving somebody a soothing talk they need, giving your time or simply by being there for them. Look at life with a fresh approach and generosity of spirit. The simple acts of kindness would give you joy and a sense of satisfaction. The fact that people can look up to you for help, counseling, and assistance makes you feel more at peace.

To sum up, once you tap the power of kindness, you would feel that life becomes easier and effortless, as one is able to go with the flow. When you practice being kind to yourself, others as well as your surroundings, you are in sync with your higher self, god and universe. Life becomes much easier when you are in touch with the power of kindness, therefore, being kind helps you find happiness, health, wealth and inner peace.
