6 Mantras Every Woman Should Follow To Be Healthy

6 mantras every woman should follow to be healthy

Health is not something that is to be taken for granted, especially if you are a woman/mother. We say this because as a woman, you need to juggle between multiple roles as a homemaker, a professional, and a mother. Pregnancy, childbirth and then menopause can take a toll on your overall health and well-being, if you are not careful. So, read on below and make the following five habits an inevitable part of your lifestyle!!

#1 Never, ever skip your meals!

This might seem like a very silly advice but trust us on this!! Skipping your meals is never done, especially and most importantly, your breakfast. The breakfast is the first meal of your day and helps to kick-start your metabolism. If you take a nutritious breakfast, it will keep you energetic throughout the day and would also prevent hunger pangs in the later hours of the day, due to fall in blood Sugar levels, abruptly. If you are full, you would not munch on unnecessary calories while at work!! A healthy body needs some fuel, every two to three hours. So, pack your lunch for office and do not rely on cafeteria snacks. While packing, be mindful of packing stuff that is healthy and filling like fruits, nuts, buttermilk or a brown bread sandwich, may be! As an evening snack, some sprouts would be perfect.

#2 Work out

We totally understand that women often have very tight schedules and have to balance multiple aspects of life including kids, home and work. Even if you cannot join a gym or yoga class, at least, make it a point to take a brisk stroll around the block early in morning or late in the evening to pump up your heartbeat or burn those extra calories!! Exercise helps to release happy hormones, aka endorphins which lift up your mood. Your muscles need some stretching and workout on a daily basis to release that built-up tension.

#3 Drink plenty of fluids

It is very important to regulate the amount of liquids you consume in a day. A dehydrated body can cause nausea, headaches, vague aches in muscles and lethargy. Most of your body functions, require water to be carried out smoothly. So, keep a check on your daily water intake to stay fresh and active. There are apps that help you set a reminder to drink water. If you are not a big fan of drinking plain water all the time, have Green tea or herbal tea or fruit/veggie juices. Add some slices of Oranges or Lemon or even Cucumber to the twist up the taste of plain water.

#4 Make Love, not war!

It is scientifically proven that making love releases happy hormones, reduces stress hormones and actually burns calories! Another study proves that regular love making decreases your tendency to catch seasonal flu and other infections. So, why not??

#5 Do not ignore your annual health examination and invest in a good health insurance

While we all wish that none of you have to face any health issues, adversity can come anytime in anyone’s life. Instead of ignoring it, be prepared for it, especially after you cross 35. Annual health check-ups can help identify many problems like tendency to get Diabetes, High blood pressure, insufficient Vitamin D levels, high Cholesterol levels etc. So, after due investigations, you can make necessary lifestyle and dietary changes to nip these health problems in the bud and avoid complications, later in life. Here I cannot but emphasize the importance of buying and investing in a critical illness insurance and a health insurance when you are younger, at lower rates. It may sound remote now but will help you in the later stages of life.

#6  Go back to the land of fairytales: Be a sleeping beauty

There is nothing a good night’s sleep cannot fix, so sleep well. As we age, our sleep cycle gets tossed and we may not sleep enough, but our body still needs sleep to recover from a day’s work. So do not ignore sleep, work on it. Take long baths before bedtime, create an environment before bedtime, do whatever it takes.

As a woman and a mom, you form the axis of your family. If you do not take care of your health, everything around will just dilapidate. Do not neglect your health.
