Fuel Your Mornings With A Hearty Breakfast- Never Skip Breakfast

Don’t skip breakfast

It’s 6 am and my alarm goes off, nudging me to get off the bed! As usual, I put it on snooze and go back to my dreams. Aah, those early morning dreams and that extra 5 minutes in the morning is so worth it. The alarm goes off again almost pleadingly nudging me this time. I check the time and it’s 6.30 am. Oops, when did the last 5 minutes turn to 30? There is panic in my voice as I wake up the kids and head to the kitchen to make them their school tiffins. Have to figure out a quick yet nourishing option for their breakfast as well and out comes a box of cereals from Kellogg’s. Some milk and fresh/dry fruit and Kellogg’s ready-to-eat cereals are a great way of getting energy, protein, fibre, and key vitamins and iron into their body and giving them a kick-start to their day.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you can’t take a chance around it. At times, you may have sent your kids to school with just a glass of milk because you were getting late and your child could become hungry and is unable to concentrate on studies? Once the kids are off to school, I head to my yoga class or running training. Once I am back, however, I am starving and need food which is nourishing and tasty. I am sure you will relate to it, especially if you also workout. I mean you have sweated out all those calories and don’t want them back. I hate to eat food that doesn’t appeal to my palette or my eyes, after all, I have sweated to earn it. So here is one of my favourites; smoothie bowls made with fruits, yogurt, and muesli. They look bright and can be made in so many variations. Plus with yogurt and fruits, they make for a power-packed breakfast

Kellogg’s Muesli has corn, wheat rice, oats, almonds and dry fruits as its ingredients which basically means it’s a blend of grains that provide soluble and insoluble fibre and is enriched with a range of essential vitamins as well as the much-need iron. Need I say more about its goodness? Sometimes when I am feeling lazy, I just have it with some warm milk.

A lot of you might have questions on why I eat my breakfast after my exercise and why not before? Here are my reasons and then some more scientific ones;

But remember this, whatever you do, do not skip breakfast and have a wholesome one. Skipping your breakfast will not give you the right head start to the day and your body will tend to miss out on essential nutrients that are usually part of a nourishing breakfast meal.

Is Skipping breakfast a good alternative? Will it help you lose weight?

So as I basically mentioned earlier, after a workout your body is in a burn-out mode, so is you skip breakfast will be foolish if you think you are going to lose weight by doing that. Also, a good breakfast means that you won’t be snacking on foods that are low in essential nutrients later.

So folks, do not think twice. This national nutrition month, let’s take the pledge to #BreakTheHabit of skipping breakfast.
