The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends 30 minutes of daily exercise for pregnant women, “It can decrease the risk of gestational diabetes as well as decrease risks of having a cesarean section,” says Sheri Puffer, MD, an OB/GYN at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. Dr. Kiran Coehlo, states, exercising also helps the body get used to the sudden weight gain during pregnancy. Exercising in moderation for three to four days a week for at least 30 minutes goes a long way in keeping up with your pre-pregnancy fitness. So while doctors worldwide are in sync on why exercise for pregnant women is healthy, why are we so judgemental? Let’s look at some fit moms the world over and their fitness routines and the challenges they faced. I personally find some of them inspiring and some really bold. As for me, I was exercising during my pregnancy and my doctor and my trainer supported me throughout. Some of the women I am listing below are inspiring but also trained well. Please do not follow them blindly, get proper medical go-ahead and an experienced trainer.

Sophie Guidolin, a 26-year-old fitness trainer and mom of twins felt the same backlash when she posted a photo lifting when she was 26 weeks pregnant.

‘Let me just start by saying- this isn’t genetics, or luck. I worked my a*** off PRE pregnancy, DURING pregnancy and eat wholefoods.

‘My first two pregnancies, I gained 28 kilos, was left overweight, unfit and unhealthy.

‘I knew I needed a change for the better and I am so proud to be a healthy role model for my children.’

{28 weeks pregnant with the twins} I am getting ALOT of comments & emails in regards to whether I will be releasing a pregnancy exercise & nutrition book or program. The answer was and still is, unfortunately no. Pregnancy is not a time for a generic workout plan & cannot be the same for every pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different with health & fitness levels, mothers requirements and any implications from the individual pregnancy. ➡️It doesn't sit right with me to write a program or a book on what has worked for me as I started off very fit. Many women have asked me for generic guidance or questions on what they should do via Instagram or email without me even knowing their names let alone their maternal history. Yes, we offer custom programs however I cannot give you advice without knowing your entire history and pregnancy ? #twinpregnancy

Let’s see some of her work outs;

Michelle Bridges is one of Australia’s most influential health & fitness expert. She had posted some pics on Instagram lifting some weights during her pregnancy and received some strong opposition.

Her instagram pic lifting weights during her pregnancy was removed from her Instagram account.  Sophie in her support said ;

“Why do we tear pregnant women down instead of holding them up?

Kinki Wong:

Now this is a mom who has shaken the entire internet by her risky yoga postures. Yoga is supposed to be very beneficial for pregnant women, but Kinki takes a few notches up. Her moves has your heart all twirled up in notches but she beautifully went through her journey and in two weeks after delivering her healthy baby she was back to looking this;

    Exercise is good for expectant mothers but it is vital that right exercises be done.
    And it depends from country to country

      I agree with your first point, but on your second point; I think we can’t define exercise by country but by individual’s own fitness.
