For A Diaper Rash Free Baby: Pampers Dry Pants Review
Babies are adorable bundles of joy and having them is a blessing. But, motherhood is a full-time duty and poses many challenges. The initial months of being a new mother are the most challenging as you are not used to the new sleep patterns and well, your hormones are still acting funny. Though, if you are mentally prepared and know a few good tactics, you will be able to manage everything skillfully.
Personally, there are three issues I faced when my son was born that bothered me the most. It took a couple of days to learn to manage everything but now, I feel that becoming a mother makes you very strong as a woman. What I learned and unlearnt through bringing up my boys I pass down as wisdom to new moms through my blog. However, Bubbles, my niece who is just over a year old has brought in a new definition in my life. Raising a girl (and I am still not completely raising her) can be very different. She brings out the softer side in everyone around and even me. You should see her brothers and how they go all ‘Goo-goo-gaga’ around her.
Bubbles goes to a daycare as she has a working mom and while it is one of the best daycares around, I saw Bubbles go through severe diaper rash issues and I am forever on the lookout for a permanent solution to that.
The features of the Pampers Dry Pants that stand out are;
*Flexible waistband
*Baby lotion
*Breathable cotton belts and cuffs
*Magic Gel
*Extra absorb channels
We tested them
I created a batch of mock urine (a mix of filtered water, salt, and blue food coloring) to test the diaper and got down to testing it.
I poured 120 ml of this liquid onto the diaper holding it vertically.
Waited for a minute then used a tissue paper as a blotting paper to check for any wetness.
I checked for any leaks or breakdowns in the diaper. I also cut the diaper open to understand its contents and how absorption was working.
The Pampers diaper has four functional parts:
- Waterproof outer layer or shell.
- Absorbent core. This is the most important part of a diaper because it prevents leakage. It has chemical crystals that expand to lock in liquid and can retain many times their weight, also known as a superabsorbent gel.
- Inner layer. Also referred to as the liner or top sheet, this is the part of the diaper that has the most contact with the babyās skin.
- Stretchier. The technical term for the elastic bands around the legs and waist.
Then we gave a few diapers to Devika(Bubble’s mom) to try out for 2-3 days.
Our findings
Pampers are by far the most popular choice amongst diapers that I have used for my kiddos and Bubbles. Over the years technology has advanced and Pampers Dry pants absorb better and faster.
Mommy feedback
āI like that the Pampers netting prevented leaking, especially when I was breastfeeding and my babyās stools were not as firm.ā -Devika, Bubbles mom.
Not being able to get enough sleep with the new baby is one problem new moms find frustrating. I was used to getting 8 hours sleep each night but having a baby changed that. Being a working mom did not help. While she gets taken care of in the day at the daycare. From evening till morning I am in charge. When I want really want to throw in the towel at times. Having a diaper that absorbs quickly and can last for hours is a relief. Bubbles now has learnt to open her diaper so a pant style one helps to prevent any mishaps.
Finally, Sharing Some Of Our Diaper Changing Tips
Not changing a wet diaper can pose multiple problems for your baby and cause infections. The importance of buying premium quality, well-fitted diapers cannot be overemphasized. Some things that helped me with the diaper changes are as follows:
- 6 to 10 diaper changes in a day are considered normal. So, do not worry as this is just a matter of a few months.
- You must clean your babyās bottom using warm water and sponge or fragrance-free baby wipe.
- Let the skin dry fully and moisturize using a mild lotion or organic coconut oil before you make your baby wear a new one.
- You can also let your baby have some diaper free time each day while she/he is awake.
- Buy a diaper that has a soft, anti-bacterial sheath. A good diaper helps to prevent leakages and reduces the chances of your baby developing a rash.
- Do not make the baby wear a diaper that is too tight on his thighs. You can use an adequately fitting diaper by buying it on the basis of your babyās weight rather than age.
- Superabsorbent diapers and those that convert liquid to gel are the best of all. An elastic band around the waist ensures added security.
The first few months of motherhood are difficult but do not be very hard on yourself. Ask your family for help and hire a nanny to take care of the baby and attend to his or her needs every now and then. Even a helper who can take care of the house chores really eases things out as you only have to take care of the baby and not worry about other stuff around the house. You don’t have to be a super mom you just have to be a happy one :)!!
