I have an identity beyond my riches
I have an identity beyond my past
I have an identity beyond my social media status and
beyond the kids that I nurture.
I feel bound by those boundaries
I exist but do not believe that my power lies within me.
All my life I felt judged, whether it was for my complexion while growing up or for my weight after delivering my baby or now when I strive to meet all my life goals even after being a mom. It’s not only me but women around me and in general have this issue.
Boys and girls today are raised together, nurtured together, and set out ambitiously together. Then why do we see women left behind in meeting their life goals? Why do we see so many women self doubting themselves and depressed or even suppressing their desires? You are a feminist if you have a view and a voice. You are a wonderful mom, wife, daughter etc if you sacrifice your desires for the family? So doing things that make your soul happy is attached to guilt when it comes to a woman.
The funny thing is that women themselves attach this guilt to their being. We hear of women need empowerment on one side and then there is a side who believes that it’s just been around too long and they need it anymore. Still I see women stuck in some kind of a loop where they lose their identity. The ones who fight break barriers or reinvent themselves don’t have it easy, either from their surroundings or even themselves. They never feel at peace. Only a countable few, make it through and the one thing I believe takes them forward beyond their abilities, support and passion is the power of belief. Believing in themselves, in their goal no matter what.
Here is what I have to say women, if you still don’t believe in yourself. And I am not doubting that you have not made it successful in your career or have a lovely home and kids. All I am saying is that if you feel stuck in a loop then you are not empowered, yet. Remember an empowered woman is a happy one and a satisfied one. An empowered woman is the one who can take her own decisions, one who is not ‘bali ka bakra’ or the sacrificial lamb. Whether she decides to work or not should be her own decision and or under any guilt or duress.
And if you have managed to sail above all this and are shining in your glory, don’t forget to take some women along with you. Don’t forget to dust that little bit of fairy dust you found. Only then are you truly empowered. Yes, it doesn’t need to be a day to celebrate you but it can definitely be a reminder to you and with that – Wishing you a Very Happy Women’s Day!!
Ending with this lovely video that we recently conceived and created. We made this video because we feel women need to believe in themselves. Here is a small effort from the team. Hope you like it.
