Holistic Wellness: “It’s All About Being Happy Inside Out”

While imbibing fitness, you come to stages when you overdo it and put yourself under immense pressure. That’s when it stops benefitting you and maybe in some ways harming you. For example, you come back late in the night from work or a party and rise up early and start your fitness regime. Will this help you or harm you? Or your kids have exams and you are practising yoga and trying to keep your thoughts integrated, but they keep going back to your kids. Will the practice reap you benefits?

Fitness is not only about a toned body or slim waist, it’s about how you look and feel inside out. It is the recognition that what affects one part or system affects the whole body. A holistic approach to health is multi-faceted and mindful of the consequences of our habits and actions.

I have always tried to be mindful of what I eat, how much I sleep and tried to take a break when the going gets tough. It is important at times to just let go. Last week for me went like that, I had my hands full with my blogging and fitness regime and then came along something interesting. It tried to do it all and finally my brain gave up. Trying to do many things has never worked for me. I went in a brain freeze moment for some days and just couldn’t cope. Around the same time I got this opportunity to meet and interact with Lara Dutta, Former Miss Universe and actor Joins Forces with Global Hotel Chain to Help Guests achieve a holistic approach to Wellness as Part of The Westin Well-being Movement. This helped me in more ways than one.

I realised that when it comes to ‪fitness‬, we seem to think so alike. I loved the way‪ ‎Lara Dutta‬ batted the cause of ‪#‎fitnessforwomen‬ and for ‪holistic wellness‬ . She said something wonderful at the meet that stuck to me.

If your day is stressful, wake up early and do your thing, whether it’s fitness or finding your inner peace zone. There is no shortcut to fitness! Embrace every phase in your life. If you’re a new mommy, embrace the changes that come in your lifestyle and your body. Holistic Wellness starts from within.

Her collaboration with Westin is to  help Guests achieve a holistic approach to Wellness as Part of The Westin Well-being Movement.

In her role as a well-being brand advocate, Lara will share her holistic lifestyle tips of restoring calm and balance at home or on the road with guests and associates; and how despite her hectic schedules, she is able to maintain a work-life balance.  She will also create content and share her wellness and fitness choices on social media channels in order to reach a wider audience of guests and associates around the world.

“I am delighted to be a part of the Westin Well –Being Movement. I have always believed in a holistic approach to wellness; what one eats, what exercise regimen one follows and how one counters stress. The key to wellness is balance and positive thinking. I have benefited from this in my profession and personal life. Through this association, I look forward to sharing my own knowledge and experience with others.”

She has been practicing yoga for over 12 years and has also launched her Prenatal Yoga CD, helping pregnant women and young mothers to adopt a balanced and stress-free lifestyle. Her proactive approach to wellbeing suitably aligns with Westin brand’s six pillars of wellness: Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well, Work Well and Play Well.

When it comes to #fitness, we seem to think so alike. I loved the way #laradutta batted the cause of #fitnessforwomen and for #holisticwellness at the #WestinWellbeing event today @thewestinmumbai #instalike #instagood #Insta #instagramers #FitMom #fitnessforlife #fitnessblogger #fitness

The Eat Well part of the movement can be experienced in it’s SuperFoodsRx™ menus,  featuring  juices and smoothies, and kid-tested nourishing dishes developed in partnership with SuperChefsTM on the Westin Eat Well Menu for Kids.

Did you know that by the Westin Gear Lending  programme you can actually rent the with New Balance® fitness gear for as low as 5$ or 250 INR? Now you won’t be away from fitness even if you forgot to pack your fitness gear. I know this will work well with people like my hubby, who is a business traveller and likes to travel light. Most Westin Hotels also have a running track and can assign you a trainer to guide you through your fitness regime.

Coming back to me; it was after meeting Lara that I decided to go on a social detox. I kept my phone at bay, luckily my laptop conked off and I also reduced my social calls. While I panicked on work getting delayed. I realised, how happy I felt. I have had a most wonderful long weekend, with birthday celebrations and being around family, but mostly by cutting off the unnecessary stress. I am back recharged and renergised. So, if you are in my situation, maybe it’s time to focus on a larger picture of what you want to achieve and you will realise it is all about being ‘Happy inside out’ :)!!

Think!! Enjoy !! Relax!! But Stay fit!!

On that happy note,
