Fashion is not gender specific or life stage specific. It is inherent and loved by all. You start dressing up from the time you develop a sense about your body and that love lives on forever. From childhood to adolescence to motherhood, I have always loved fashion. Whether is was browsing through vogues and cosmopolitans or studying fashion or styling myself, the love has manifested in different forms. All throughout, I have had a few idols that to me are God of Fashion. Rohit Bal, Ritu Kumar, Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra are not just a few designer names, they are people whose designs I have drunk my eyes on for many many years. So today when I got an invite to witness a Manish Malhotra’s show, I just couldn’t contain my happiness.
Manish Malhotra opened the Lakme Fashion Week at Mehboob studio tonight. The set looked like an enchanted forest featuring a Tree of Life in white.
His collection, titled ‘Elements’ is all about powder blues, ivories and muted tangerines, the collection depicts the beauty of fire, water, air and earth. It’s a celebration of nature. Infact, the event sponsor #LyfSmartphones has also launched mobiles which are named after the four elements. I am currently reviewing the LYF Earth model and most of the pictures and videos are shot using the phone. This season I am using the new LYF Earth phone to cover the entire LFW. Coming back to the collection there’s also a lot of global influences in the cuts. There were Indian silhouettes in a whole new avatar. There were embellished gowns and structured tops along with lehengas with trails.
Powder pink sarees with sheer full-length shrugs which created a demure look. Shades were all pastels shades of pink, blue, light green and orange. For the men, there were tailored jackets/pants, kurtas etc. The cuts for the men were crisp and clean.
Jacqueline Fernandes and Arjan Kapoor looked absolutely stunning as showstoppers, but we missed Kareena. Somehow, over the years, she and Manish Malhotra have become synonymous and my association is too strong.

I totally agree with your words, the only thing I do not understand is that much collections are being created of cloth that are hardly adjustable to real world requirements.
