Easter is the perfect excuse to indulge in delicious treats with your loved ones. We all have grown up with the delightful stories of hot cross buns, and the hunt for the Easter egg. While these are the traditional food ideas we have about Easter. Last year I had blogged all about how I learned about the relevance of Easter and even shared some interesting anecdotes and recipes from friends who celebrate the festival. This year I decided to take a step further and unravel more mysteries around it. So I went around hunting for more and this is what I have to share.
If you thought Easter food and celebration is about only Easter Eggs, you are mistaken.
So this year bringing you something sweet, something spicy from the Traditional Easter Recipe. Why Sweet and Spicy?
When sweet is added to spice, the heat is mitigated allowing the taste of the spice to be better captured and appreciated without burning one’s taste buds. When spice is added to sweet, it gives food an unexpected kick. So without much ado.

Hold on. There is a difference between adding spice before sweet and adding sweet before spice? I would have thought either way you go, the result would be the same?
Clearly, I have a long road ahead of me in learning more on cooking!

What an interesting mix, I’m curious about what this tastes like. Aside from the recipe, it was also good to know the origin of the name from different languages. Although considered a “treat,” it seems like a healthy dish as well. Turmeric is nowadays known as a superfood, garlic is good for the heart, chili increases metabolism and is a good source of vitamin C. Although there is sugar, this is a relatively healthy treat.

I love cooking with sweet and spicy herbs. I usually add some honey to my meat when I want to make the people I cook for, taste the spiciness better. The pork looks interesting, I might try this out. In general do I prefer spicy food over sweet food. I’m not a big fan of mango and pineapple in your food. But in combination with spicy food, it’s better.

The recipe you made looks so easy to follow! I hope I can try this one day, though I’ve been restricting myself to eat pork lately. But maybe I can treat myself once in a while 🙂 I will save this! 🙂

Hey Arrianne, love you name :). Yes pork is not one preferred meat nowadays, but once in a while indulgence is fine.
