Lately, Mumbai has seen a huge growth in the number of people who are very conscious about their health. They are also very concerned about the food they eat. Mumbai prefers to eat organic food these days. So what is organic food? In Organic farming, the farmers don’t use man-made chemicals and pesticides and rely on crop rotation, animal and plant manures, some hand weeding and biological pest control. So the product is safer. Now that we have established that organic food and vegetables are safe, where can you buy Organic food in Mumbai?

Kavita Mukhi pioneered the concept of Farmers’ Market in the city when she started it in 2010. It’s a market at which organic food in Mumbai is showcased by farmers from across Maharashtra sell produce directly to city consumers.  Fresh, organically certified fruit and vegetables are available every Sunday 10am to 3pm from October to March at Bhalla House, opposite St. Andrew’s Church, Bandra.  This market also features organic and earth-friendly trade, workshops for children, live performances and a natural café. You can meet the farmers and interact with them. You could also meet several die-hard organic fans who will in all likelihood be happy to chat about their experiences and offers tips and suggestions.
