A dear old man Deon Jackson sang once “Love makes world go around’! It also makes the world go square and rest of other things possible. So people in love or still not in love, Valentine’s Day is around the corner and what’s new? Do you have that someone special in your life? Someone special enough to get a handmade surprise from you? Unique gifts are also inexpensive when you make them yourself.  We know how crazy our lives can get but sometimes isn’t it nice to step back and make something simple. So we decided to get in touch with Hobby Ideas for a cool and easy DIY Origami gift idea and here it is.

Hearts are the traditional symbol for Valentine’s Day! There’s so many ways to show you care on this love-filled holiday. Make a card, make a sticker, paint a t- shirt, make a bag, there are innumerable possibilities! Let’s spread some more love and make this ‘Love’ mobile. You can spring up a surprise and hang this one in the living room on the eve of Valentine’s Day after everyone has slept.

How to make this? You can do this by using some origami techniques. We need origami paper, corrugated paper sheet, red paint, a thick flat brush, paper cutter, glitter sponge paper and fabric glue.

We start by making origami roses. The steps are real simple but pay attention lest you miss one. How to make Origami is one of the most asked questions by the crafters lately and the answer lies in folding. Follow the folds and we are sorted.

VIDEO

After making the origami roses we will start making the heart, the base for the roses. Do you have an old cardboard box? Take a side of the box and draw two concentric hearts. The bigger one about 18 inches long and the smaller one about 9 inches long

Now cut the hearts as shown in the image. Paint the heart red using acrylic colours.

Cut a love sign from the glitter sponge sheet and hang it with a silver cord. Then start pasting the origami paper flowers on the heart. Let it dry for some time. Make a loop using silver cord for hanging the mobile. Ensure that it is strong enough to bear the weight of the heart.

Here it is! We are totally flipping over this one! Can’t wait to put this up!

Made with love and origami! More love to you and all!

“You are the source of my joy, the center of my world and the whole of my heart.” Anon
